most memorable dining experience, ever!

My husband and I dined at Andies in the dead of winter. The atmosphere was extremely warm and inviting. A fireplace blazed on one side of the restaurant, we were promptly seated nearby, and the manager came & personally invited us to enjoy our evening. We were delighted when our server brought us Mediterranean cheese and lit it on fire in front of us. The service was top-notch: we never saw the bottom of our beverage glasses because our server faithfully refilled them; endless baskets of warm, homemade pitas were brought continually to our table; and we never needed to wait impatiently for our server to come to us so that we could make a request. He was not obnoxious nor intrusive, but aware of when we desired to speak with him. The food was absolutely delicious-everything made to order and brought to us promptly. My husband and I decided without hesitation that this was the finest dining experience we had ever had!

Sucks!

4 of us went there around 5 pm, Dip sampler was mediocre, pita was greasy, chicken platter for kids was plain and dry while shawerma plate was too greasy. It was too overpriced for the quality of food and service. I won't be back, and I don't recommend anyone else to go there.

What's Happening to Andie's?
By Foodie from Uptown, June 11, 2008

Normally, I think Andie's is great. It has good food and a rather fun atmosphere. However, the last three times I've been there (because I keep giving it a chance), the service has been horrible. The dishes take a very long time to be served and the servers were completely inattentive. Once, we waited at our table for a good 30 minutes before anyone even bothered to take our order. On a different occasion, it took an hour just to get what we did order. We should have walked out, but I keep hoping the service will return to what it used to be. They need to get their act together and do it fast.

I won't go back

I'm sorry but the food I had last night here was not even close to acceptable.
My date and I split a few appetizers- coconut shrimp (4 tiny shrimp that appeared to be right out of a box) there was more lettuce on this plate than actual food.. with was the same for the dried out and luke-warm grilled octopus. Just terrible.
When I complained to the manager he explained to me that "well, the shrimp skewer costs this much and there are THIS many shrimp on it.. and compared to the price of such-andsuch..bla bla...."
Hey, I get out quite often and I know terrible food when I get it... this place is terrible.
The bartender needs to learn how to mix a marghariti.. they tatsed like pure undiluted mix.. undrinkable.
To make up for everything, they gave us some free baklava... to bad it was so dry even a knife had a hard time getting threw it.

Trust me, there are a ton of better places in Andersonville to enjoy a good meal.

I have been coming here for somtime now and the service and food continue to go down hill. Not sure what happened but I know the service for us was the worst in my dining experience. Food was over seasoned and there are so many other more competent restaraunts of this great cuisine you can try from. Save your $ and go somewhere else, I recommend - Al Kyahmieh on Kedzie or Reza next door. If you dont believe me, try it and hope u have a good experience but as a regular customer I would expect much better!!

Sharwarma and basmati rice + Lentil soup + falafal are outstanding and my favorites. Still great food even after 10 years of dining there. I've tried Reza's just to try it and was disappointed with both food and service. Andie's never disappoints.

Don't understand the poor reviews, I always have a great time at Andie's. The atmosphere is superb, the food delicious and always freshly prepared (that is why it takes so long, they are cooking it from scratch!). Excellent array of vegetarian selections. Their weekend brunches cannot be beat.
