Best Mexican Food in Lincoln Park

Overall rating:

I couldn't have asked for a better dining experience. Not only was the food outstanding but the service was exceptional as well. The manager/owner made it a point to check in all of the restaurants patrons which made the meal even more intimate. I recommend the Twisted Lizard to everyone, expecially those people celebrating special occasions.

My wife and I discovered Twisted Lizard through a friend about a year ago and instantly fell in love. The black angus skirt steak is among the most tender and well seasoned I have had in Chicago. The salsas are well above average, and the pico de gallo is amazing! We have sampled many items from the menu and all have been delicious. If you are there to drink, the margaritas are good and fairly potent.

However, the service, especially during off-peak hours, can be bad. We used to go on Sunday for lunch and several times we had to leave and come back 30 minutes later because the wait staff had not shown up to work on time! We now only go from time to time in the evening when we have had good luck with servers.

Twisted Lizard is one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago- I go with all my girlfriends on Wednesday nights for $3 margaritas. The staff is really friendly (chips and the best salsa EVER brought to you the minute you sit down), the atmosphere is lively, and the food is awesome. I recommend the fish tacos (if you're hungry) but the seafood quesadilla I had last time hit the spot and didn't fill me up too much. Highly recommended

Food is okay...not nearly as good as Uncle Julios. The margaritas are bland...not a good value. Most surprising is how RUDE the staff is. I complained to the manager about the waitress forgetting one of our orders, and he basically told me, "Tough luck. Sucks to be you." I WILL NOT EVER GO BACK!

our waitress sucked! she not only brought our margaritas 1/2 late, she forget to put our food order in...to top it off she completely ignored us, and we didn't even now her name...although she was having a great time with the table next to us and spilling shots all over the sidewalk...never go there!!!

My boyfriend and I come here almost once a week. We live in the neighborhood and this place is a gem. The food is excellent and the margaritas are smooth (but still strong). The free chips and salsa are some of the best I've had. I enjoy bringing visitors here. We always leave very happy.

Worst service ever. Rude waitress...

Worst service ever. Rude waitress who forgot to bring us one of our orders, then added an 18% gratuity to the bill at the end. When I spoke to the manager, he was rude, rolled his eyes and said "well, did you eat all the food? then you pay for it..." I will never go back. Over priced Mexican, not fresh chips (out of a big plastic bin behind the bar). The food was small portions, too- go to Uncle Julio's Hacenda...WAY better- I am so upset about this experience!

Great place to escape from the heat. Amazing tequila selection...Sergio brought liquors from all over and convinced me that, yes, tequila can be smooth. The waitresses are so fun that you'll be saying "It's Sergio, or Ser-gi-No". Highly recommended.

Came in for drinks saturday with some of the guys. I have to thank the owner for hiring such hot servers to work. Every time we go to the Lizard we leave with drunk, full and happy.
