Nothing Better!
By arising from Oak Park, August 26, 2009

My family and I have been coming here for 7 years. It is our favorite place and has become the only place we consider going to for our family celebrations.
New Rebozo offers far more than standard burritos or tacos. I have always gotten the special and have always been delighted with my choice.
Besides the food being incredible, the service and friendliness of the wait staff is fabulous. And, nothing can beat Paco's table-side visits.
OMG!

A jewel

You can find beans, cheese and lettuce in a 100 Mexican restaurants within a mile of this place. You want cheap? Go to those places. You want a couple dozen moles (pistachio, cinnamon, pumpkin seed, chocolate, +), pomegranate sauce, Goat cheese and mango tamales? Get to the New Rebozo fast. This is some of the best, most original food -of any variety- in Chicago. And for Mexican food, the closest competition is Topolobampo. Have you paid for a dinner at Baylis' place lately? And Paco's tequila selection at New Rebozo is one of the most esoteric and well thought out in all Chicago. All of that, and the owner personally serves you and designs each recipe. The New Rebozo is hands down one of the best dinners in the area. The creativity of the food and the intimate and friendly atmosphere are unmatched. If you order a taco here you're wasting good seating space for me and my friends. Head down the street and leave a table for us at New Rebozo.

Incredibly expensive

I have to agree w/some of the others regarding the price. I went w/my husband and 2 kids and paid $80 for some tacos. Unfortunately, the food was average at best. The guacamole my kids shared was made w/overly ripe avocadoes and starting to brown. Not good at all. I enjoyed the service but don't believe this is the best food out there for the price. We definitely will not be back.

Simply the best...

This is simply one of the best restaurants of ANY sort I've ever eaten at.

I was first tempted to expect run-of-the-mill "Mexican food." God knows there are Mexican restaurants all over the place, but I've never seen one with this level of culinary ambition or skill.

Owner/Chef Paco is an artist. His recipes are creative and innovative. OMIGOD!!! Green chili stuffed with beef, chorizo and rice and covered in pomegranate sauce!!! OMIGOD!!! Six flautas with six fillings (chorizo, chicken, guacamole, beef, cheese) and six moles!!! OMIGOD!!! The sweet, the salty, the tangy, the spicy...Paco puts dishes together that will knock you out!!!

Chef Paco is also a genuinely warm and welcoming person. He entertains you with his enthusiastic recital of the day's specials (and, by all means, go for the specials -- you can get tacos anywhere) and is pleased and humbly gratified when you agree (OMIGOD!!!) that your meal was every bit as good as he promised you it would be.

My wife and I have been back a dozen times since we first visited about a year ago, and now we bring family, friends, and out-of-towners who visit. No one has been disappointed. You won't either.

Amazing!!

I've been to New Rebozo several times with my fiancee and always leave with a smile on my face and a new appreciation for quality food. Paco is an incredible patron who makes you feel like you're a member of his family. Oh yeah, and the food is absolutely wonderful. I've had the Tacos Chetumal ... steak with bacon bell peppers and chihauhua cheese. I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E. I am a fan of steak tacos and have enjoyed them at myriad restuarants in the city from Frontera Grill to Pancho Pistolas and New Rebozo tops them both. My fiancee and I regularly share our entrees and her Fish Tacos were perfect. The sauce that garnished the tacos was superb.

I would highly recommend going here not only for the food but for the friendly atmosphere. I have never been to a restaurant where I was treated so well and felt so welcomed.

OH MY GOD DELISH FOOD!
By sakisura from Bayview, May 27, 2009

Paco is the owner/chef and he's there for every dinner service and comes out personally to every table to greet you and tell you about his "Oh MY God" specials. They are super creative and he is an AWESOME guy!
All the ingredients are high quality and fresh that day. How many mexican restaurants can you say that about?

Even the small things like the free chips and salsa and side of beans and rice are the best you'll ever have. I live in Wisconsin but when I go to IL I ALWAYS have to eat here at least once on my visit!

NEW REBOZO ROCKS!

Exquisite food, incredibly delicious, comfortable-classy environment

The first words out of everyone's mouth after taking the first bite of their meal is, "oh my god!" Everyone I have taken to New Rebozo has absolutely loved it and comes to visit me (many from all over Wisconsin) just to eat there! Fantastic service, food quality, food presentation, and environment!

You can't go wrong with any of the menu selections. Every item is perfectly cooked and carefully created as if it were an art. The owner/head chef takes great pride in his creations and shows a true and rare passion for his work. He makes each and every person in the restaurant feel as though they are his personal guest and he clearly values creating a complete packaged experience of delicious authentic cuisine, very comfortable-with-class environment and prompt polite service. Everything tastes very fresh and the flavors can be gobbled down with the delicious fresh salsa and chips or savored and appreciated for the delicate nuances in each dish.

I have had a fantastic experience every time, no exaggeration. Since my first visit, it has been without a doubt my favorite restaurant of all time.

Some of my favorite dishes have been the guacamole, enchiladas zapata and the mango tamales.

This is a perfect place for a date, but also a really nice environment for hanging out with friends or a meal with the family. I've been there for all of these reasons. The patio in back is a very nice, casual option in summer.

The best!

Most gourmet Mexican restaurant in Oak Park
By paulobis from Budlong Woods, December 27, 2008

Overall rating:

There are many places to get Mexican food in Oak Park, but New Rebozo is the most upscale, creative and gourmet. But don't let that scare you away. You can still show up in jeans and a t-shirt and pay less than $15 for most entrees -- and $8 or less at lunch. The recipes are variations of traditional Mexican dishes created by Paco's (the owner) mother. Paco himself is from Mexico, but he became a true artist in the kitchen after completing his culinary studies at The Art Institute of Chicago.

If you plan on going out on a Friday or Saturday night, be prepared to wait a long time for a table. Reservations are taken only for parties of six or more.

In the winter, be sure to try the authentic Mexican hot chocolate.
