Hand-made tortillas created as you wait is a great touch to this colorful place which is in a drab neigborhood. But the prices are too high for the amount of food you get. Also, nowhere does it call itself "tapas", which I think is how most Spanish, not Mexican food is served. You will have to spend a lot of money to leave as full as you ordinarily would at a normal Mexican restaurant. There was also something missing from the margaritas--I think it was alcohol.
Report This Reviewthe concept of antojitos is great(essentially mexican tapas), very original - for chicago, at least. They use extremely fresh ingrediants & the execution is pretty spot on, finding some items here which can be found no where else. my only complaint is that a lot of the (fried) dishes, which are a lot (empanadas, taquitos, flautas, tamales, etc) leave a bit of a greasy/oily aftertaste and if the owner can overcome that, it would be a 4 star. Everything and i mean everything, is made from scratch & all corn torts are pressed and cut on premise, made to order..even the chips for guac & salsa are pressed, cut & cooked to order!!!
Report This ReviewWow- from scratch that is the key!
all drinks and food from scratch what a rarity Chicago needs more like this gem in a great HOOD!
The food is excellent. Yes, the portions are small but if you get the sampler platter and a few other entrees it is a lot of food for 2 people. It's basically mexican tapas so just have that in mind first - your not going to find a burrito as big as your head here. But the quality of the ingredients and preparation is great! Definitely will go back. Oh, the margaritas are pretty big.
