My husband, two friends, and I had dinner here recently and had an enjoyable experience. The waitstaff and owner were very friendly and the service was good. The complimentary homemade chips and salsa were very tasty and the virgin mojito was also very good. Our favorite appetizer was the empanadas which were fried to a nice golden brown. I loved the empanada dipping sauce and even used it on some of my entree. The Tampiquena skirt steak was very juicy and flavorful. The other people in my party had the Fajitas and the Pollo Con Chorizo Mexicano and all were also flavorful and tasty. The portion sizes are filling and the prices are very reasonable. We will definitely be back for more!

BYOB. Great ownership. And, outstanding food. My wife and I had a terrific dinner with our 15month-old. The service was excellent and we met with the owner, Lisa, who was a terrific host. It's great to see a new restaurant in our 'hood.

My wife and I have been to La Fonda several times with friends and family for special occasions and just by ourselves. The restaurant is extremely clean, nicely decorated, has very comfortable seating and attentive waitstaff that are not overbearing. The owners are on-site, extremely friendly and genuinely care about their customers having a good experience. We started going when it first opened and have always felt the food was good and very reasonably priced. But we've recently been impressed by a noticeable improvement in the quality of food, from good to great, which is another example of the owners' desire to provide the best experience possible. The Tampiquena, Burritos, La Fonda Salad and Choriqueso are our favorites. We highly recommend this restaurant and our friends and family have expressed the same feelings.

We went into La Fonda Del Gusto on a Sunday morning right as it opened and had a wonderful experience. The 2 salsa's that the brought to the table with chips were really tasty- citrusy and a little spicy, but not over the top. The chicken with peppers and chorizo was delicious and the mole sauce was really good and uniquely sweet. You can order single tacos, which was great for our one year old son. The service was quick and attentive. We'll definitely be return for another great experience!

My boyfriend and I went for dinner and I ordered a burrito and he ordered the he ordered the chicken. The waiter was slow to serve us and during our entire meal he rarely came to our table. When I received my burrito I noticed that sour cream instead of cheese was on my burrito (so ingredients were extra $). They brought me cheese, but I was disappointed because I wanted it melted in my burrito. When my bf cut into his chicken we noticed that it was entirely pink. When we told the waiter he didn't apologize, but then came back and told us that it had been fully cooked because it had been cooked twice (not sure how that works...). But when he got a new piece of chicken there was a hair underneath his chicken. Gross. We didn't inform them of the hair because we just wanted to leave, but to make up for the uncooked chicken they brought us a free desert (jelly shortcake??) and it was really good! (yes, I was skeptical to eat it after finding a hair, but it looked really good!). That's why they got 2 stars for food instead of 1.

For a neighborhood with a lot to choose from, I was nonplussed by this place. The food was...fine. The decor was nothing to write home about. The service was...fine. For the same price and BYO option, there are a number of other places I'd go before here again.

I've been here twice now and had decent experiences both times. I got a salad on the first visit and it wasn't very good (seriously dry chicken on top was a big downer), but got another chicken dish the second time and enjoyed my meal much more. The nachos and guac were both good. We BYOBed Corona's and they brought us lime slices right away, and good service followed throughout both of my meals here.

after reading the review in the Red Eye, several of us from work were excited to try this place. We brought our own wine and we ready to take it all in. The restaurant space is cute, but really nothing unusual or latin about the interior. The waiter/service was fine. The food was SADLY lacking in creativity, execution and flavor. We ordered several appetizers and dinner entrees. All 4 of us had different items and all 4 were very boring. I had to put salsa, onions and cilantro all over my chicken to add any flavor. We expected more from this well promoted restaurant, but would not return.

I can live with the marginal decor, but the food is just plain terrible! The two different salsas are dreadful, the chile relleno has no cheese, the mole sauce is awful. Honestly, I would have rather gone to Taco Bell.
On the bright side, it is BYOB and has friendly service! Considering it is 10 ft. from my house, I really wanted to like it, but I will never go back. Not even for BYOB!
