Frida's
- Neighborhood: Lakeview
- 3755 N. Southport Ave.
- Chicago, IL 60613
- 773-935-2330
- Price range: $$ ($9-$15)
Though the dining room decor at this Southport Avenue spot is more subdued than that of its Andersonville sibling, La Cocina de Frida, owner Marlene Benitez still pays tribute to her favorite artist, Frida Kahlo. Look for a single sepia-toned print of Kahlo hanging on one wall, plus a few Kahlo still lifes throughout the urban-industrial space. The menu focuses on traditional Mexican fare, with a full bar turning out favorites such as house-made sangria and fruity tequila-spiked cazuelas. Frida’s caters to the Lakeview crowd with a mix of family-oriented and Cubs-focused specials and events, including pre-Cubs brunches and a late-night botanas (a.k.a. "Mexi-tapas") menu served Thursday-Saturday after 10 p.m.

Frida's is a delicious addition to the neighborhood. I highly recommend the Bomba Frida...a very interesting mix of meats, vegetables and some pin...
