Price range: $$ ($9-$15)

This affordable Uptown Mexican restaurant typically serves a lot of locals, including families in the early evening and budget-minded twenty- and thirtysomethings neighbors later on. Recently, it's also drawn fans of the Lincoln Park location, which is closed until December 2009 for renovations. Expect a menu of favorites such as fajitas, skirt steak and whole red snapper served with tomato, onion, jalapenos and tomato sauce, a house specialty. Breakfast, served daily, includes staples such as huevos rancheros and chilaquiles. At the bar, margarita options abound. Stick with the traditional lime version or go for something more exotic, such as guava or papaya.
