El Nuevo Mexicano - Chicago, IL 60657 | Metromix Chicago

El Nuevo Mexicano

El Nuevo Mexicano has been a Lakeview tradition since 1979 (since 1983 at this address). Its cozy dining room features exposed brick walls decorated with Mexican bric-a-brac, a tin ceiling, and tables covered with white linen tablecloths and cloth napkins, an elegant touch for a neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Menu favorites include enchiladas con mole, flautas, tacos, burritos, chimichangas and tostadas. Mexican breakfast fare like huevos rancheros and eggs with chorizo sausage are available all day. Try one of the potent specialty margaritas, or opt for a non-alcoholic horchata (a Mexican drink of steeped almonds and rice sweetened with cinnamon and sugar). On busier nights, dine in the private party room, The Chili Pepper Club. Its French doors open up to the patio making you feel like you're outside.

Mmm ... Mexican food & margaritas!

I would have to say Mexican food is my favorite, from totally traditional to "nuevo" cuisine. Here are my top picks.
