This cozy storefront features a festive, colorful dining room that's accented with Latin-flaired artifacts and artwork. The eatery offers table and banquette seating overlooking the open display kitchen. Chef-owner Luis Perez, who did stints at Jack's on Halsted (Jack's American Blend), and Bistro Marbuzet before opening his own spot, injects his global background into Dorado's upscale Latin menu. Starters include the popular duck nachos (corn tortilla chips layered with smoked duck, black beans, guacamole and lime cream sauce) and creamy corn soup with green onions and crab meat. For dinner, try the roasted pork tenderloin with Cajun sweet potatoes and brandied guajillo pepper cream sauce or carne asada with seasonal veggies and spicy green rice, which gets it's color from cilantro, jalapeno and green onions.
