Adobo Grill Wicker Park: User Reviews
The food is overpriced, the service is lacking at best, and you get charged for chips and salsa. The outdoor patio was great for a nice night, but nothing else made an impression on me that would tempt me to return. I honestly don't understand how this place does such good business... maybe brunch is better than dinner?

You will be challenged to find a better Margarita in the Chicago land area! The service is second to none and the food is authentically delicious! Adobo offers a great recession friendly bar menu along with daily specials. Did I mention how great the food tastes? Thursday’s special is my favorite (1/2 off margaritas)!
The Wicker Park location has a really great party room. The photos on the website do not do this place justice. You have to see it in person. The rooms are really functional, eclectic and fun. I recently had my cocktail wedding reception (June 2009) here and my guests and vendors ABSOLUTELY loved the concept, décor, location, extremely accommodating staff and tasty food.
This is a very affordable restaurant and bar that is ideal for dinners and celebrations. I usually visit at least once a week.
Kudos to Aykut, Luis, Freddy, Angel, Boras, Danielle and the entire Wicker Park staff!

This place sucks and that's all there is to say. The food is horrible and the drinks may be tasty but are way overpriced! I guarantee you will get ripped off if you go here. Take my advice and go to La Pasada right down the street on Ashland - best Mexican in the city!!!

I mourned when Mas closed because of their margaritas. My wife mourned when Bravo closed because of their mojitos. Have been to the other Adobo Grill and did not want to go back because of a lackluster experience. But I love a good hand shaken margarita. This is how I go to Adobo Grill. First ask for Luis the server. He's fun, gives excellent service and we ask for him every time. You will always be asked about guacamole. It's great guac. We pass as I'm on campaign against corn tortilla chips since we're training. Order margaritas or mojitos (ask for rum; they can make one and it's excellent.) They also have a mezcal topper for the margarita like they had at Mas; it's an acquired taste but I'll start off with with one mezcal topper then go onto one standard. The margaritas here are perfect. Topolabampo has good margaritas but their cheaper margarita is rank and the only one to compare to Adobo's standard is their expensive one. So Adobo's margarita is better and cheaper. Order the mexican pizza and no that's not the Adobo grill name. It's Txxxx Oxxxx something. It's a huge wheat tortilla with mexican cheese, chicken, mole, topped with a lkittle watercress or arugula and slices of avocado and some other stuff. It's sliced like pizza. It's pure deliciousness and affordable. Then get the skirt steak dish and get a side of plantains. The plantains go so well with the skirt steak which has some other stuff with it. It's a perfect dish. Also highly recommended is the ceviche trio for an app. It's top notch, excellent protein, you get three options, excellent, fresh flavor and also affordable. This is our favorite place right and is the only place we've been going this summer. Excellent margaritas!

I will never frequent this Adobo Grill again. I went here last for the $20 deal (choose an appetizer and entree or entree and dessert for $20 - only on Tuesdays). I was there with five friends and only two of them ordered for this deal. At the end of the night our waitress brought us the bill and did not provide the $20 deal. She explained that the deal was only if all six of us used it!! This was no where on this website and when the manager came over, he refused to budge. I guess my two friends should have sat by themselves to get the deal. If Adobo is going to have this silly "rule" I strongly encourage them to update their website. What is more aggravating is that we specifically told our waitress that two of the customers would be ordering for the $20 deal and she NEVER mentioned that all six had to....On top of all of this, the speed of service was awful.

This place is a staple on Division but I am not certain for what reason. The only redeeming quality was the guacamole which is no longer tableside. The food portions were small and highly-overpriced. The atmosphere was great due to the company. I'd rather go across the street to Picante where your dollar travels much further.
Report This ReviewLast night my boyfriend and I visited Adobo after getting rave reviews from friends. While the guacamole and margaritas were excellent, the chicken tamales and meat skewers were disappointing. My boyfriend had a steak dish, and it was so rare it was uneatable. The service was great as was the outdoor patio. While I would return for guacamole and drinks, I would not return for dinner. Overall, I felt the food was overpriced, and simply not that good.
Report This ReviewGreat flank steak...melts in your mouth. I am shocked at the negative reviews. I frequent Adobo at least once a month, and everything has been perfect. I always order margaritas made to my specification (the comment below makes no sense). This place is great.
