- Neighborhood: Bucktown/Wicker Park
- 2057 W. North Ave.
- Chicago, IL 60647

- Price range: $ (Under $9)
This friendly, affordable Wicker Park spot specializes in Middle Eastern food—falafel, hummus and the like, as well as yummy lentil soup and made-to-order sandwiches. There's also a fully loaded salad bar with Middle Eastern specialties such as dolma and tabbouleh salad in the mix. Order at the counter (note: it's cash only) and then choose a seat among a diverse crowd of vegans, hipsters and families from the neighborhood (low prices and huge portions attract a diverse crowd). A cafe area offers Lavazza coffee and espresso drinks, a build-your-own fresh fruit smoothie bar and a pastry case full of sweets such as baklava and halva, a confection generally made with semolina flour, sugar or honey, butter and various nuts and dried fruits. Alcohol is not permitted, but sparkling water as well as natural and sugary sodas are plentiful.
