After 16 years of catering to students at the University of Chicago with his restaurant The Nile, Rashad Moughrabi is trying his luck dishing out Mediterranean food to Evanston residents and Northwestern students on the go. Pomegranate serves as a happy medium between the downtown's fast food chains and slower sit-down restaurants by offering counter service and excellent eats. The chicken shawerma is already a favorite, super-tender and flavorful served over yellow rice with a skewer of vegetables. If you're in more of a hurry, try the signature steak-in-a-sack or the nicely spiced falafel and hummus served in a fresh, warm pita. Even if you don't have room, grab a piece of baklava -- you'll thank yourself later when you take a bite of this crispy, sweet treat.
