This turn of the century-inspired salon inspired by La Belle Èpoque is French for "the red apple." Partners Jerry Suqi (creator of Sugar | A Dessert Bar, formerly at this address) and Jackson Miranda came up with a design that revolves around three interpretations for the fruit--apple as knowledge, beauty and, of course, temptation--expressed through Neo-Baroque, Victorian and Art Nouveau period pieces. Imbibe and indulge with an extensive list of champagnes and wines, plus a menu of small plates, caviars and other posh nibbles for noshing. The signature cocktail will obviously be the apple martini, though don't expect it to be your garden variety.

True to the aim of turn-of-the century salons, La Pomme also aims "to please and educate" through a series, La Pomme Privé, involving guest artists and intellectuals. You can also create your own event, as the spot features three options for private parties: Paradis (paradise), in the front, boasts elegant couches, fireplaces and a Victorian sideboard on the back bar; Enfer (hell), in the back, is what Suqi calls a "den of inequity" with fabric-covered walls, dozens of pillows and the design decadence of an opium den; and La Salle à Manger, the main dining room, which boasts an expansive bar, booth seating and a rich autumnal palette. Sounds sophisticated, no? Expect a mature, tamer crowd. This place is no nightclub, though it's not as subdued as a straightforward restaurant.
