Su-Ra Korean Restaurant
- Neighborhood: Bucktown/Wicker Park
- 2257 W. North Ave.
- Chicago, IL 60647

Don't get confused people – this Wicker Park BYOB is named Su-Ra, which owner Euiha Hwang tells us means "royal feast" in Korean, it's not Sura, the Thai-fusion Boystown spot whose name translates to "liquor" in Thai. Although it's Hwang's first foray into the Chicago restaurant scene, we have high hopes for the food: he owned a restaurant for five years in Korea before opening Su-Ra, he has veteran chef Paul Choi manning the stoves (ex Jack's on Halsted, MOD, Tizi Melloul, Trio and Settimana Cafe), plus the menu is peppered with mentions like "Berkshire pork" and "free-range chicken," something you don't see at most corner Koreans.
The lineup lists choices such as chap chae, Korean-style vermicelli with beef and veggies; dae ji bulgogi, sweet-and-spicy marinated heirloom pork with seasonal veggies; and the signature bi bim bop, steamed Korean rice with seasonal veggies, fried egg and spicy red pepper paste. The cozy dining room is fitted with exposed brick and tasteful Korean artwork, plus a there’s a quiet rear patio behind the restaurant for alfresco dining.
