Pleasantly surprised

I recently took my wife out for what I was hoping to be a nice treat, and was pleasantly surprised to discover a new favorite eatery. Our food came out promptly, and the service was great as well. Although we questioned the mixed reviews online, I found our evening to be greatly enjoyable. Their dishes are generously proportioned as well which is always a plus! definitely will be returning

Truly Appalling

In 29 years, I’ve never eaten at a place that attempted to rush my party out as abruptly as this one did. At 8:55, our waitress informed us that another party had a 9:00 reservation and that we needed to finish up. Because our friends had pre-ordered a special dessert, the waitress took it upon herself to bring out the dessert as my friend's wife was literally chewing a piece of maki.

The waitress then explained that the manager was "making me do this," and she was sorry - but that we still had to leave (as a table of food remained). After mentioning my displeasure to the manager, she offered me a $25 gift certificate. Unfortunately, at this place, $25 buys you one roll and leaves you with a few dollars left over.

Sushi for 4 - $200.
Dessert - $10
Getting your table bussed as you’re still eating - Appalling.

There are too many good sushi places around that will let you finish your meal (amazing concept). Avoid Wildfish like the plague.

Poor Management Makes This Restaurant a Real Disappointment
By jen from arlington heights, February 14, 2009

We ordered take out from here on Valentine's Day and they told us it would be a half hour. My husband proceeded to sit in their waiting area for 15 minutes before they finally told him it would be another 20 minutes. In short, they were off on their time estimate by a HALF HOUR and seemed not at all concerned about rectifying the situation. We were regulars at this restaurant until tonight -- they have lost our business due to a blatant lack of respect. Management has absolutely no clue how to run a good business.

okay enough, I guess

For me, part of the attraction of sushi is to be able to experience the visual artistry of the food. The very subdued lighting at Wildfish made this a little difficult. And then the booming techno music disrupted the serenity I've come to expect at other sushi restaurants. The food tasted fine, and the service was adequate. I wouldn't be afraid of coming back, but there are other sushi places out there that are just as good, at better prices.

City Quality Sushi...
By ADC75 from Lincolnpark, May 20, 2008

I think this place is EXCELLENT in terms of sushi quality! Even simple things like the edamame and California rolls are fresh and wonderful. The nigiri and sashimi is also very high quality and can compete with any place in the city. The atmosphere is nice and I've never had bad service. It's a city-like sushi gem hidden in the suburbs! Go here now.

Wonderful Sushi and more
By M. Sweet from Arlington Heights, April 16, 2008

We live in the area, and eat here as often as possible. My "picky" teenagers can always find something they would like to eat, while my husband and I experiment with new dishes. We have never had a problem with service, and never make a reservation. We have found that even on the weekends, there is always room at the sushi bar. This restaurant is one you must try!

UP CHARGE
By sams from mount prospect, February 11, 2008

i have been a loyal costumer for wildfish since they have opened. i went there for an anniversary last weekend and was greeted rudely by the "host". They now charge a fee for black rice when they didn't before. The server wasn't an informer until we got the check, we were so surprised.

Very Disappointed
By rosellefoodie from Roselle, February 1, 2008

We have been going to Wildfish for years and 4 of us went there a couple of weeks ago for dinner on a Friday night. The place was full so the host said that we will be sitted in 20-30 min. We were OK with that so we waited. As we were sitting there, we saw him sit 8 COUPLES before us in a span of 1hour. Yes his 20-30 min. turned to an hour. The host did not even keep us updated on the status of our table. I was hoping he could have at least told us the wait is going to be much longer so we can have the option to go somewhere else. When i finally approached him he was VERY RUDE AND UNAPOLOGETIC. That was what we got for being loyal customers. I guess customer loyalty is not important to them. Will never go there again.
