Sushi Loop: User Reviews
Sushi Loop
810 W. Jackson Blvd. - Chicago312-714-1234
I've tried a number of sushi restaurants in this part of chicago and none of them compare to Sushi Loop. Other places may have spent more on designer ascetics but it's that taste and quality of the fish that matters and the flashy looking places fish doesn't compare to what Sushi Loop serves. The staff is wonderful and the owner makes you feel like you're having a meal at a good friends' home. I've never been disappointed here unlike my experience at other sushi places near by.

Sushi grade is the typical cheap Grade 1 sushi (the lowest)
21$ for a sushi sample was a bit disappointing. Nothing exotic / no specials / no toro.
I ordered ice cream which had freezer frost bite (ice flakes) on it.
They offered a Sake sampler that was decent for 9$.
The appetizers were served way too hot.
Not a good value for the $ - Walked away for around 100$ for 2... so I was not shy about trying the menu, yet I really did not get a great value out of it.
I probably wont go back.

If you are looking for a quiet place to enjoy great sushi, this is the place for you. Sushi Loop has a nice mellow atmosphere with great sushi. They have a great variety in nigri, maki, and sashimi. Try the mountain rolls, nigri, and plum ice cream. The food was prepared excellent. An overall great dining experience. They have great sake and great sushi.

This mom and pop sushi bar I went to has good maki rolls and nice size pieces. The Mom an pop sushi style is great. Very nice people make this small place a fun place to visit at lunch.

My first review! I'm usually a reader of reviews, but this is the first place I've eaten at in a long time that I've been so impressed by! The freshest sushi I've ever eaten and really the best…I've tried a lot of places. A very simple and relaxed atmosphere. My favorites: Dragon Roll, The Mountain, Spicy Tuna…and so many others. If you aren’t in the mood for sushi, the beef fried rice is great! You won’t be disappointed. ;)

I just tried this place today. I am a big sushi fan and live close by in the West Loop. This place is GREAT! I tried Bagel Rolls, Cali Rolls, Super White Tuna and Toro. The Toro was pricey, a little salty and cut a little too thick...but everything else was incredible!!!
The Super White Tuna was some of the best I've had. The Bagel Rolls with avocado added was great. The place is clean, had great service and a nice atmosphere. I will be back soon!

I have been to this restaurant about a half dozen times over the past year and each time I have had an excellent experience. I have to admit the first time I went I was skeptical (I mean, sushi in Greektown? C’mon). Nonetheless, their sashimi is some of the best in the city and is a fraction of the cost some more well known restaurants. The service is attentive (they always pour your sake) but not overbearing (never rushed). The chef/owner is very friendly and always stops by the table to ensure that everyone is satisfied with their meal. Bottom line… if you’re looking for top shelf sashimi without the river north price tag give it a try.

Sushi Loop has the freshest sushi in Chicago. The ambiance is simple and quiet, not at all trendy like the other West Loop sushi spots. Sushi loop offers fresh sushi and rarely available fish at truly reasonable prices. They have an unbelievable maki selection of unique items, but the sashimi tells you just how fresh everything is. Order the "super white" tuna and it will be the best you've ever had (and I lived in San Francisco!) For non sushi lovers, the Korean BBQ is great. They offer a full bar but don't push it with the funky trendy cocktails. Also, if you BYOB, the corkage fee is $2.50 PER PERSON, no matter how many bottles you open... Jay, the sushi chef and owner always thanks you for coming and you are happy to give this couple-run restaurant your money. I have never spent more than $30/person there!

Great hidden sushi spot in greek town. What makes this place different from any other sushi place is the service. Also the prices here are a lot lower for the same quality sushi, if not better, you could find at other trendy/chic places.
