The thinking here is that sushi is about simplicity—but simple does not mean uncool. This quiet restaurant works a clean, hip vibe with white tables and soft-playing music. It’s not coincidence that much of the clientele includes first-date diners and couples in deep conversation. Signature rolls such as the Trio (tuna, hamachi, salmon, avocado, spicy mayo, scallion, lime juice) and Shinobu (shrimp tempura, unagi, cream cheese and tempura crumb topped with ebi, scallop and wasabi mayo) come stuffed with ingredients; Japanese noodle dishes, soups, salads, a small selection of hot entrees and an extensive appetizer lineup round out the menu.
