If you enjoy fondue or korean bbq, then you will enjoy the similar interactive meal at shabu shabu. I would reccomend to try it out for something different.

Overall this Restaurant is great, food and service are also fantastic as well as ambiance.
If you are trying to look for a specific menu in Chicago area,I highly recommend to try "Shabu-shabu" instead of Shusi.
It's price so resonable, quantity and quality is over the price.
I had shabu shabu in LA,NY,Las Vegas for several years. I think this is the best shabu restaurant in America as long as I know. You need to make reservation on weekend.
I am sure you would get great time.

Great Deal!

Really yummy food for a good price. The broth you put it in is watered down but that's because you're not supposed to get flavor from the broth anyway. I thought the portions were very very generously sized, especially for the price, and the experience as a whole was lovely.

In terms of the service I couldn't have been happier. When making our reservation they actually asked us what the occasion was and prepared free ice cream as it was a birthday party. The waitress was also very friendly and helped give tips and pointers as well.

As a random side note: I wouldn't recommend going for some sort of occasion in which you want a lot of pictures, as the steam from the broth tends to cloud up any picture you attempt to take. It's fine after the meal is over, but just... definitely not while the stoves are on.

Try the fried ice cream! It's amazing (though note that it's only in green tea flavored ice cream). Also the sweet potatoes are pretty good.

Great Healthy Eating
By ChicagoGal from Chicago, October 21, 2008

I wanted to give this restaurant 5 stars. However, the concept of cooking your food in broth is the whole basis behind the restaurant and we found the broth was unseasoned and watered down. To offset this problem we were able to spice up the broth with seasonings on the table which helped. We did not figure this out until we were almost done eating. Service is prompt but because of the language barrier we were not given any assistance. Instructions on cooking are in the menu and on the table.
Now the food choices were fabulous for the entrees. Beef or chicken shabu shabu was 2 platters, one meat and the other a large selection of veggies. Beef noodle shabu was less beef, a heap of noodles and veggies. Both were $10. You have to like vegetables to be happy at Shabu House. The appetisers were a large choice of selection but way too small in quantity for the price. Egg rolls were 5 finger size mini egg rolls and an order of dumplings were only 4. Each were $5. I loved the place and will return but without my teenagers. They are not veggie eaters and were not happy even though they love traditional Korean Bulgogi. They did have it as an appetiser for $10 but without all the side dishes traditionally found in Korean restaurants. They should add this to their entree menu. A great place to try eating in a new healthy way.

Saw this on Metromix, and as it is right down the street, I wanted to try it out. Great price for a fondue style meal. My Mom and I spent about an hour cooking, and eating. You cannot be in a rush when you come here. I had the beef with noodles, and she had the beef with dumplings. Everything was very fresh, and the beef was lean and cut nice and thin. Great place to take anyone who is looking for a healthy, low calorie restaurant option. Even have a video going for first timers on how to cook. Staff was very helpful and friendly.

First of all let me tell all metromix users that I have never seen shabu shabu served at such an incredible price. Shabu House is easily the best tasting shabu restaurant I have been to and the strange part is that it also has the lowest prices. I really don't know how or why they charge only 9.99 for their beef shabu dinner but the low price to dine there certainly allows me to visit quite often. It's the perfect restaurant to bring someone for conversation. Everytime I go to a movie in the area I find myself directly heading for shabu house after.

This is a great new restaurant that serves Shabu Shabu. Shabu Shabu is a very healthy and fun meal to eat and you get to cook it yourself at your own table with individual pots for each person. They give you a very nice mix of vegetables with each one and you can customize it by adding extra mushrooms, beef, seafood, noodles, etc to your meal. You are give a selection of dipping sauces to use. The service is very efficient and friendly. The prices are very reasonable. They are family friendly. A must try!!
