I don't like to slam restaurants if they try but just don't quite make it. But Sanook has to be one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. Service was slow and less than welcoming on a slow Tuesday night. The Thai calamari was overcooked and bland. My Thai dish of spicy catfish was so hot, (and I like hot food) it was inedible. Besides that the fish was overcooked to the point of being dried out. My wife's dish of noodles with peanut sauce was just assembled with some rice noodles, some steamed vegetables on the side and what looked like a ladle full of peanut sauce over the top. The final straw was an order to go which we were told would take 5 minutes. 30 minutes later I was literally knocking on the kitchen door.
There are many other Thai places and are a whole lot better. Kan Pao and Thai Oscar on Western Ave. come to mind. These folks don't have a clue what they are doing on the service or preparation side.

Sanook is a great addition to the neighborhood. Solid Thai and Japanese food, great service and free parking to boot! The dining area is very large and is decorated tastefully in a simple, modern decor. Check it out!
