Rise: User Reviews
All of the sushi that we ordered was delicious! I highly recommend their specialty rolls.

Been to Rise on many occasions, and I agree with many of the recent reviews: Good food, AWFUL service. In my experience, the manager set the tone -- He was rude and discourteous before our 4-some was even seated, and the rest of the staff took it from there. I can overlook a 1x event, but we have received (and seen) similar treatment on many occasions. Too many great sushi options in Chicago to keep going back to Rise for their rotten attitude and overpriced menu.

The waitress and the hostess AND the manager are COMPLETELY rude!!! The hostess asked us 5 times when the others were getting to the restaurant, and she was obviously annoyed that all of us were not there at the same time. The waitress rushed us, talked down to us, rolled her eyes multiple times at us, talked to us like we were inconveniencing her, she stared at us after we were done eating and mouthed "leave, leave leave, go! go go!" Are we not able to relax and have a nice night out without the waitress telling us to leave RIGHT when our forks are down??? Then when we were looking for the manager to talk to, he was joking and laughing with the waitress!! When we finally told him what was happening he said, "ok, thanks!" NOT WORTH IT.

The worst customer service ever. I placed a catering order, they got it wrong, and refused to give me a credit. The manager was totally rude. I will never go there again. The food isn't good enough to put up with bad service.

So my last visit to rise was about a week ago, the service is great as usual, everyone is really friendly, the managers, the host, and servers. everyone has a smile on. i enjoyed the new makis they had, new and a bit different from everyone else, thats why they stand out to me, the appetizers are very good, the sesame calamari is a must, the tom-yum soup is also "yummy," the drinks were also fantastic, but the one thing i didnt like to much is how they raised the prices yet AGAIN, i go to rise probably about once every two weeks or so, and it seems about every year the prices are different, for instance the rainbow maki used to be $12 probably 2 years ago, now its raised to $16 which is outrageous, especially in the economical decline we are in right now. so i would suggest to the owners that they should bring the prices back down if they wish to keep the valued customers, just my two cents

They have some decent dishes (Best Calimari)....but my friends who know such things believe the sushi is sub par (I find it average). What gets me is the prices.....and the 30% increase they just enforced. Nice timing. Don't get ripped off- you could easily get a better meal for 1/2 the price elsewhere.

Okay so the guy that sold us our sake was smart nice and informative. Other than that, such horrible service. We were there when it was pretty dead, and we sat ourselves. That means no menus I guess. When we did get our menus (after asking for them) our watiress arrived 2 minutes later to take our oder. Now there were only 4 other tables occupied at the time, so there should have been no rush. We ordered and asked to keep our menu in case we wanted another round, this was met with a sigh and an eye roll. The food did come quick and was okay, but not worth the prices for sure.

Mediocre sushi, exorbitant prices, and ambivalent service. The only thing this restaurant has going for it is a location on the Southport corridor. You can find better sushi at half the price at any number of places in Lakeview.
