We just went this past Saturday night, and I was pleasantly surprised. We usually went for sushi downtown, and had not yet found a sushi restaurant in the suburbs. The atmosphere is very hip-lots of red paper lanterns that cast an attractive glow on the food and the people. It might have been the time we went, but the service was just so so. The waitress was very brighteyed and friendly, but she didn't really give us much attention. We felt rushed to make decisions. The price was comparable to the usual prices we pay for sushi downtown, so we can't say for sure if this is overpriced sushi or not. We are maki roll sushi-people, so we can't say how the sashimi style sushi was, but the maki was good-very crab based. The dishes are attractive, and they have a good bar list. We will be back, but next time we'll either come at a slower time of day, or we'll study what we want online before we go, so we get ample chance to study the menu before ordering.

Most importantly, this sushi is not up to par. Our first roll sounded like a spicy tuna roll with crunch, but tasted mostly like double deep fried tempura flakes. The limited sashimi we had was fair, but with a slight fishiness and served with the amount of wasabi you'd allow a kindergartner. The spinach dumplings were good, but a lobster mango roll was fishy, and a rainbow roll was slightly fishy as well.
As for the ambiance it definitely seeks out the clubby croud, the music is loud, the waitresses are more worried about the scene than the sushi.. bottom line if you're reading this, take my advice and go downtown.

Been there twice, and both times the service has been bad. The sushi isn't cheap, especially the 4 teeny shrimp you get for $9.00 on a sugar cane skewer! But
some of the items were very good. However the service has been very inconsistent
both times we have been there. When you plop down "Chicago" priced sushi in
Lombard, at least get the service up to par. We really want you to make it here
in Lombard. (But you need some waitstaff training badly!)

I like the ambience, the crowd and staff are attractive. The servers are like high schoolers at their first job, they are sooooo mindless you feel cheated tipping them, but they're cute. Now the food, the cooked stuff is great, the sushi is average at best. Great place for suburbanites trying to get a little culture.

Don’t waste your time or your money. The food was not fresh, the service was inconsistent, the wait between plates on a slow Monday night was unacceptable, the music was obnoxious, and the prices were too high for such low quality. They pork gyoza was soggy and tasted like it was cooked in a microwave. The sushi tasted anything but fresh. The service was okay during the beginning of our meal, but halfway through our meal our waitress all together disappeared. The music was awful; bad hip-hop and old played-out rock. If you’re looking for fresh sushi and a cool place to dine, avoid RA Sushi.

I do think that the value is good and the ambiance is awesome-it's nice to see a sushi place that's so hip. However, I guess you kind of get what you pay for with Sushi, as it does taste a little cheap.

my girlfriend lives in lombard and we were thrilled when we found ra. not very traditional if that's what you're looking for. it's a cool scene with great music, fun sushi and a hot staff (my girlfriend had to remind me to keep my eyes on the menu)! great place to go for a drink or food- its also a bar and stays open late. kitchen apps were only ok, but entrees were great.

Came here for lunch and enjoyed the variety and value offered in the lunch menu (teryaki chicken or beef or tempura, served with miso soup, salad, potsticker, and eggroll). The portions were the right size. I didn't feel like a glutton finishing off my meal. The presentation was beautiful. I also tried a specialty maki roll, and it was not traditional maki, but delicious nonetheless. Would highly recommend if you are craving sushi and are in the suburbs.

First time I was there I was blown away by how great there sushi was, the great japanese decor/great music, and cool martinis. But last nite, Saturday night 2/17/08, the wait was forever, the hostess told us between 20-35 min, but we waited about 45 min. to an hour waiting to be seated and were very hungry. For some reason I still want to try the sushi I tried before, its" Viva Las Vegas Roll", its very good but I noticed thats theres a lot of creme cheese that was on it. I still love it, but its somehow sweet to me. The other one was "Dynamite scallop Roll", same thing its very good, but a lot of creme cheese again, and bet. sweet/spicy flavor. Still love there drinks, and a great waitress that attended our order.
