This place was a huge let down.... The food was just dry and tastless. I thought the staff was rude and they did not check up on us much at all. I would not recommend this place. Bad bad bad!!!
Report This ReviewThe sushi and presentation are terrific and the staff provides a level of service that is second to none. Brian was our server and we appreciated his attention to detail and approach.
Great food coupled with amazing service in an under-stated, elegant setting made for a perfect client dinner for a sushi enthusiast.
Report This ReviewI cannot say anything about the food at this place because we never even made it to our table. When we made our 9:15 reservation, we were rudely warned not to be late. We arrived promptly at 9:15 and by 9:45 there was still no prospect of getting a table. Apparently the "don't be late" rule only applies to customers. The staff seemed confused by the fact that we were irritated. They did not offer a drink, an appetizer, nothing. When I made the suggestion that they send us something to eat/drink while we wait, they looked at me like I was speaking in a foreign language. There are enough great sushi joints in Chicago, that offer quality food and service. This place needs to realize that service counts.
Report This ReviewMy fiance and I dined at Meiji for the first time last Saturday. We thought the service was good, the staff was pleasant and the food was great! I do not think their prices are much higher than other sushi restaurants. We enjoyed every thing we ordered, it was well worth the money. We will definitely go back.
Report This ReviewOf all the Randolph Street Japanese restaurants this has to be the finest-the quality and imagination of food rivals most others in Chicago. An absolute must if you love this type of food-atmosphere is terrific, wait staff equally great
Report This ReviewLast night was my second time at Meiji. I'll go a 3rd, a 4th etc. The food is just AMAZING and the staff is very friendly. Since I had never eaten sushi/fish before so Brian (our waiter) recommended some dishes and helped me and my friends out. He was a big help.
I'll go till I try everything on the menu and then do it all over again :)
I highly recommend Meiji
Report This ReviewWent last night with a friend. The sushi was really awesome. Very fresh and tender. Had an awesome makimono fire roll and David, our waiter, picked out an excellent sake for me. Also very good were the delicious ribeye wrapped asparagus starter and the machi dessert. The mockiwas a first for me...fun and tasty.
Report This ReviewWent last night with a friend. Started with the tender and tasty ribeye-wrapped asparagus, went on to a fire something roll - I can't remember the name, but it was really great, with a sweet hot pepper sauce beneath it. From there, enjoyed the chef's choice sushi - superbly fresh and delicious - and ended with the mochi. What a fun little dessert! Something new for me. Everything was wonderful, from the food, to the friendly and informed staff (David picked out a very nice sake for me.) Great sushi spot. Will bring friends next time.
Report This ReviewWandered in on accident. Great service, Excellent food. Friendly staff. I would come back!
Report This ReviewBest sushi ever, but took a while to be greeted by our server. Staff is friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Will be going back.
