Matsuri: User Reviews
Matsuri
507 S. 3rd St. - GenevaI say why go to some expensive place when there's Matsuri right around our corner? I live in St. Charles and I used to go to faraway sushi restaurants for a dinner with my kids and business partners. I think Matsuri is great to bring my kids along for because it's not as noisy and inappropriate as Swordfish. The husband and wife who own the restaurant, are very friendly. If you sit by them in the bar, they'll usually help you pick good rolls, help you pick some great appetizers, and they are very easy to talk to for help. They're always friendly. The wait is long on a busy night because of all the other people's orders but they try their best. It doesn't matter how long the wait because I think the food is worth it. My kids also love this place because the waitors are always helpful to them and when my kids make a mess, they're always still friendly and smiling. The rolls are great and the wine selection are great. So I say, GO GO GO!!

This is one of few sushi places in the area. I've never ordered anything I didn't like. The rolls are delicious. The space is small and the service is slow. However, if you are looking for sushi in this area, this is the place I would recommend.

Please listen to the other 4 reviews and not the one bad! I've been here at least 20 times within the last year and I have NEVER had a bad experience. The husband/wife owners are ALWAYS friendly, service is always amazing and the food is of the utmost quality. I have been to Ju Rin (great tepanyaki, terrible sushi) swordfish (good, but overpriced), mr. samurai, ra, wild tuna, tsuki downtown, sulo downtown and many many others and Matsuri is still by far one of my top 2 locations. A must go to if you enjoy authentic sushi. Try the Caterpillar roll it's amazing :)

surprisingly delicious, and light, not very ricy. fish is impeccably fresh, with good texture. The kendall-Jackson Cabernet blended very well with the Sushi. My favorite roll was Sunrise.

This small Japanese restaurant in beautiful downtown Geneva was a pleasant surprise on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered a combo meal with Shrimp and vegetable Tempura and Chicken Teriyaki and with three Maki rolls. The flavor and texture of the food was better than any Japanese restaurant in the suburbs. The price was right, tool. A couple could have 3 sushi rolls and an entree for less than $40. The service was attentive, pleasant, and plentiful. Anyone living in the western suburbs should give Matsuri a try.
