Frequent guest here and the food is great everytime as well as the service. The owners and wait staff always recognize us and show appreciation for our business. They are very friendly!
Report This ReviewKohan is absolutely delicious. As a relatively picky eater, their shrimp tempura rolls and Chef's special sushi are one of a kind. They have a great variety that will please the traditional and the adventurous taste buds. Prices are reasonable compared to other sushi places downtown and the owner is extremely polite, friendly, and caring, a reflection of the service at the restaurant.
Report This ReviewWe just went there for lunch, and the prices for the lunch menu seems to be too high for the typical Japanese food that is served (Bento box, noodles, tempura). Expect to spend about $12-$15 per person, and yes...I am talking about a simple Bento box lunch. Here is something that really bothered me when I got the bill. They charged us $1.50 per person for green tea, which I have never been charged in any other Japanese Restaurant I have been to in Chicago, and I have been to MANY. Will I go there again? Probably not....Why? The food is average, there was a clump of flour found in my tempura brocolli, the price is high, and they charge for green tea even though it is served like tape water in every other Japanese restaurant.
Report This ReviewOverall, a great neighborhood sushi spot with other great options such as the hibachi entrees. The waitress made a great sake recommendation. Kohan actually had a wide sake selection. There was a little delay with the hibachi/teppan entrees as the teppan station looked like they got backed up but overall it was great. Would definitely return. Their patio was also open.
Report This ReviewBeing a traditional sushi lover, I decided to give fusion sushi a try. Possibly the best gamble of my life. The dragon roll was the best with the blend of spicy tuna and tuna to go with the succulent teriyaki steak and shrimp. The best part though was the service especially the grill chef whom never seems to lose a smile. Price wasn't bad considering the price of sushi elsewhere in the city. Except to drop around 15-20 for a good dinner and sushi. Definitely worth a try especially if your exploring the new Maxwell market shops that are opening up.
Ciao
