With the outdoor mall, Algonquin Commons, just to the south, Kobe has location on it's side and -- good news for shoppers -- the eats are varied and reasonably priced. Seven hibachi grill tables offer live-action cooking with all of the choices you'll find at other Japanese grills (chicken, steak, shrimp and the requisite sides) at an easier price point. If you never met a hunk of sushi that you didn't like, you owe it to yourself to peruse the chef's special rolls menu. Sushi guru Elven Liu whips up creations such as the M-16 roll, made with shrimp tempura and crab inside, topped with smoked salmon and shrimp. You'll find rolls wrapped in ethereally thin cucumber, and others, like the candy roll (cooked whitefish, crab, asparagus, avocado and tobiko) encased in colorful soybean paper.
