I have never seen such rude restaurant staff in my life. When they realized no serving plates were on our table, they bluntly asked us, "where are your plates?", as if we hid them on purpose. Then they forgot a spider roll we ordered. When we reminded them, the sushi chef insisted that she made it and the waitress went back and forth to check with us three times as if we were the ones who made a mistake. While I acknowledge that it was a busy Friday night, it's extremely rude and insulting to have come back three times to ask if we had mis-spoken. No apologies were offered from the restaurant. When the spider roll did come, the waitress inserted it in front of my friend's face between his chest and his serving plate.

This is not a place that will wow anyone. It is however a nice comfortable place to have sushi with another close friend or loved one. I thought it was a bit too much money for the quality, but i would be back. I won't rush back, but it isn't a place to say never again.

I don't really know where those two or so negative reviewers were coming from, because I have been to this establishment numerous times and never had less then a great experience. Literally they make the best sushi I have ever had (I won't try to justify this statement by bragging about my sushi prowess), so give them a try. But beware - portions are huge!

Great food, gracious service. Loved the sushi, and my husband loved the Korean dishes. We will come back again and again.

My wife and I went here hoping for more Korean options, but were not totally disappointed since one of the dishes we knew was Korean was very good and the sushi was excellent. Huge rolls and imaginative combinations made the sushi experience great. Courteous, but very slow, service.

Me and my roommate entered Hama Matsu on a Monday evening...we were the only customers in there so we received pretty good and quick service. I have had better Sashimi at different places and the rolls had too much rice and nori. The flavor was good but as I've said...have had better, but a good place if you're in the neighborhood and need your sushi fix for a good price.

We went to Hama Matsu on a whim about 4 years ago and have been "regulars" ever since. The chefs and the servers are amazing and the quality is always superb. At Hama Matsu, one can always expect a warm welcome and delicious and reasonably priced sushi! Go to Hama Matsu once, and you'll be a regular in no time!

I have been a regular at Hama Matsu for a couple years now, and never once have I had anything but a wonderful experience! I'm not a big one for ordering rolls, but I'm impressed when I order them with friends. Their sashimi is some of the best in town, generous cuts of good quality, fresh fish. The service is casual, not formal, so if you're looking for formal atmosphere and service, go elsewhere. This is an excellent neighborhood spot with high quality food at an amazing value. I often take friends there, and they've always been impressed. Chefs Jason and Bang are talented and friendly, and never disappoint.
Report This ReviewThis is the best place for sushi! My boyfriend and I love this place. The service has declined but only when they are busy, which is understandable. Their rolls are great and sashimi is very fresh.
Report This ReviewFavorite sushi place in the city. Hands down.
