This restaurant is my favorite find of Logan Square. The sushi selection is small but great. The hands down best thing on the menu is the cold appetizer Ahi Poke - awesome. My boyfriend and I usually order 2 of these and maybe 1-2 rolls or miso soups for take-out and its plenty.
The take-out is great. The service is wonderful with everyone greeting you and welcoming you into the restaurant. In the warm months we love sitting on the patio. we also like to sit at the bar. The wine list is not great if you are big into wine, but its decent enough.
I have actually never had an entree so I am not sure about those, but the sushi is good. Enjoy!

I just got back from my first experience at Hachi's, and I was very pleased. The fish was amazingly fresh, the service was great and the ambiance was also great. Some of the maki was a little heavy on the rice, but it didn't detract. The toro tartar was pretty amazing, though a bit salty with the added soy. The dragon roll practically melted in my mouth. I've never had such good unagi. The Halloween roll was also a favorite. I would avoid the white tuna crunch roll if you're bothered by chopped up fish in a roll (I am, and probably won't eat order that again), but it still had great flavor. All in all a great dining experience. I never felt rushed, and my friend and I were able sit, chat and enjoy our bottle of wine at a very relaxed pace in a comfortable, contemporary setting.

I was really impressed with Hatchi's kitchen. The fish couldn't be any fresher, and everything we had was as good as I've had anyplace else - I was a big Bob San/Mirai fan. Now, Hatchi's is it.
The ahi poke and white tuna crunch roll should never be passed up! The place is super cute, the service was friendly and prompt, simply put - nothing missed.
Can't wait to come back!

Everytime I go to Hachi, I can count on a great meal. I haven't tried anything on the menu I don't like. The service is fantastic and very welcoming. A must try restaurant in Logan Square.

My g/f and I have been here about 5 different times and each time is great. The sushi selections are great, the ambience in great, and the service is great. I have never had a bad experience here. They have items for the non-adventurous diner (maki rolls, miso soup, etc.) and items for the adventurous diner (uni, mountain vegetable salad, oyster shooters, etc.). I expect to be going back over and over again. My g/f and I joke because we like to try new places but always keep Hachi's as our standby in case of a long wait because we know it's always going to be great.

what a great place, modern but not cold, the food especially the ahi poke is fabulous. as is the toro tartar. for people who like sashimi and the fish itself, the rolls are very good also but not super trendy.

My husband and I took a chance today at HK. My craving for Sushi surpassed the intimidating cold weather. We live in the neighborhood and forgot it is so near by. We just came home and have read all the reviews. Our experience is a mix of the existing reviews: best I’ve had in a while, the space is small (we were right between the waitress’s terminal and the entrance to the dinning room – not recommended), the buzz-boy was more polite than the waitress. The food, ah great! My husband is not a Sushi lover but did like the unagi. The waitress demeanor could definitely be better… but I find the same indifference in many Asian restaurants. We hope our budget will allow us to go back. We only ordered a big beer; but for food I went crazy; the bill came up to $70 something, with 20% tip (one soup, scallops, sashimi, two unagis, sofshell crabs, noodle dish) . The Miso Soup, not the best, average-warm, I like it hot and with more seed weeds. After the scallops, we had to wait quite a long time for my Sashimi, after that another long time for the noodle dish my husband ordered. Friday, in 26 degree – it was still crowded. Don’t be fooled by the weather: make reservations. We were blessed with parking across the street.

Best sushi I've had in awhile. It can get kind of crowded on weekends because its a really small place. But the space is really interesting and the food is worth it. There aren't a lot of good restaurants in logan square yet, but this one is definately worth trying!

My wife and I have been here probably 6 times since early this summer. We've enjoyed the food.. great presentation, tastes great, everything is always really fresh.
HOWEVER, the food has been sloppy lately. That and most importantly, the service has been really bad. We see the same girls serving there, and I don't understand the problem. We're generous when leaving tips, so I can't imagine a server feeling "stuck" with our table.
Point is this.. We won't be coming back!!! We really like the food, and the atmosphere, and loved taking friends there, however I don't want to go to a place where the server's aren't accommodating, and/or make you feel like you aren't good enough to eat at their table. I mean, who is serving whom dinner? Pathetic... I'm sure most people will shrug it off because of everything else, but go their enough times and you'll get sick of it too.
It's a shame poor service can ruin a great restaurant!

The spicy tuna, albacore, and sake maki that I ordered were unexpectedly poor; however, this could be due to my tastes. The fish in the aforementioned maki rolls were emulsified with their spices, which in my opinion makes for a undesirable "applesaucy" texture, and lost flavor. I expected to bite into a strip of fish that was solid enough to slightly pick up Wasabi and soy sauce, but experienced mushiness instead. The rolls were particularly cold, which leads me to believe that the fish were emulsified because they were previously frozen. I prefer sushi that is slightly cooler than room temp. Nevertheless, the staff was friendly and the decor was lovely. And cooked maki such as the Futo roll and soft shell crab were pretty good. If I were to go back, I would ditch the rolls and go for the Sashimi or straight sushi, because they aren't emulsified into a pulp.
