Ginza Restaurant: User Reviews
Ginza Restaurant

I am love Asian food, especially Chinese, Japanese and Korean cuisine.
When I went to this place with a couple of friends, we were disappointed with the poor quality of service. The waitress was rude and abrupt. Took too long to deliver our food and the cooking was mediocre. I later discovered that there was a Mexican cook in the kitchen although there is a Japanese man doing the sushi in the front. I thought the food would be better but my beef teriyaki was overcooked and the rice was soggy instead of being the right texture. I would probably not go back there again. The waitresses are not customer friendly.

For standard sushi Ginza is OK, nothing special or exotic. But if you are hankering for a bowl of ramen noodles in broth in downtown Chicago, this is the place to go. The portion is generous, soup base flavorful. Well worth it.

I have lived in Japan (mainly in Tokyo) for 7 years and I know what authentic Japanese food should taste like.
Some of the dishes for the weekly specials are above average and I also like the ambience but on the whole I must say that the cooking for this restaurant is NOT consistently good. If I had to be very specific, it would take 10 pages but there is not enough space.
The service is OK but the head waitress is not very friendly. She needs to learn better customer service skills. There is alot of turnover with the other waitresses and waiters.
Overall OK, not great.

I was a little disappointed to show up at this 'cozy' (small, diner like) sushi joint. It read like a place we'd really enjoy. As for the menu, we can only speak to the sushi which was extremely poor. I've never been let down by Toro until today. The staff was friendly and attentive.

This restaurant is the single finest, authentic sushi establishment in Chicago. No 'Yuppie-Sushi' here, Thank Goodness! Just the classics of the finest of Japanese cusine, served with beauty and respect. Yoko-San is the master of his art!
