I have eaten a lot of sushi over the course of my life, and Coast delivers some really delicious sushi!

The fact that they have fresh uni was enough for me to give it a try!
The sushi and shashimi were both extremely fresh and nicely cut.
The rolls are your typical rolls nothing oustanding per se but still good which there is nothing wrong with-- sushi is all about the pieces and the chefs and Coast come through for sure.

Almost everyone I know loves the BYOB aspect of restaurants-- however, in this particular setting I did not really enjoy it-- but if you are like most people you will like the fact that you can bring your own! :)

Overall, it is a great sushi place, very fresh and undoubtedly one of the best downtown!

I went on Friday night with 2 girlfriends.. The evening was off to a rocky start when they didn't have my reservation, despite my having called to confirm it, and having a confirmation code! Still, the hostesses were more than helpful, and seated us right away. The ambiance is nice... the service was fine.. the sushi was GREAT. Really good, really fresh. I definitely recommend Coast, but by all means, make a reservation before you go (and don't lose your confirmation code!)

Don't go there! Managers, servers, etc are very rude to all patrons. They should be thankful to have such a booming business during these times, but they couldn't care any less about have supportive customers. The food is good, but so is the food at a million other sushi places in the city. Skip this place!

i have been to coast 8ish times, and have always been pleased. their white dragon roll is nice, as are their salmon choices... most things are well-priced (not tooo expensive), but we did order the crab cakes off the "specials" menu last weekend, and it cost $21 for 4 small little crab cakes. ouch! overall though, this place is cool and tasty... be ready for a long wait on weekend nights.

Last time we dined at Coast, we drank a bottle of wine out of two orange juice glasses. This was fine except no one else in the restaurant was. When we asked our waitress if we could have big glasses, she said none were clean. Then, we felt lucky we only planned to have one bottle of wine since the couple next to us wasn't allowed to drink their second bottle of wine. The guy had to go to the lobby and open it. Is Coast turning into a churning restaurant?

Bring your own boozies but not too much boozies. Used to love the joint but they recently implemented a rule to limit the amount of wine you can drink. I think its one bottle per table. Not sure why this changed but it seems to be that there are looking for a quick turn and burn as the service has also taken a downgrade - seemingly trying to hurry your order and get you out the door. The food is still great, but if you're looking to sit down and relax I would look past Coast.

Great place:atmosphere, food. They should take more reservations. I have tried several times to get a reservation and am always turned away. I have gone and waited but prefer to plan. Especially when planning to come with a group, exceptions should be made.

This is really one of our favorite sushi restaurants. I agree that it's not good withkids and that it is dimly lit, but my spouse and I go there specifically when we have a babysitter. so we can be in that environment.

The BYOB is great as long as it lasts. Its good to see how they've grown from one store to three over the years. something must be good for the place to be packed on most tuesday nights, right?

Went there for a family outing for my nephew's birthday because Mirai was closed. Probably will not go back. It was uncomfortably dark for the time of day which gave us all the feeling that they were trying to hide something and can the menus be any smaller!? We all felt like we were going blind. The service was very slow and inattentive, but they don't seem to lack staff...there are plenty of them standing around. The sushi was good but the other food that we had was just ok. The Udon soup had more onions in it than noodles. We had younger children at our table and they brought their Maki out last. The positive: the bus staff was very quick in clearing the dishes off the table. To add insult to injury, they charge a 20% Gratuity for groups which is pretentious given that the service is horrible and it is BYOB.

Coast offers great pick up/delivery service! My boyfriend and I dine in a lot at home and this is by far the best delivery we've had from any of the sushi restaurants in Wicker Park. Orders are always super fresh and delicious. Tons of fresh ginger and wasabi (no extra charge) and the delivery service is fast and reliable. Definitely recommend.
