Agami Contemporary Sushi: User Reviews
Uptown needs more of these upscale places. The decor is fun, kind of like a lounge or a bar, but it's BYOB and no techno music (some sushi places think they are a dance club). The nigiri sushi was very fresh, nicely cut, though a little heavy on the wasabi dab. The signature rolls were too large with too many different flavors, but that's pretty typical. The salad dressing was surprisingly great. The miso soup was normal. Overall we quite liked the food, and the service was fine. I also had a great vodka martini. The major major downside of the place is that it's insanely expensive, even for the decent food. These signature rolls are in the $15 range and up. For maki with cream cheese or spicy mayo, no way. Unfortunately, we won't be back. Dib is a couple of blocks away, same quality, much less expensive, and also BYOB. Glad to see Agami in the neighborhood, but the food quality either has to go even higher, or the prices have to come down.

Although the atmosphere and service at Agami was average to good, their prices are ridiculously high and completely out-of-line with the neighborhood. $20 for a maki roll? You've got to be kidding. They also pushed their over-priced drinks way too much. There are so many great sushi places in Lakeview/Lincoln Park that are reasonable (e.g. Wakamono). Take your business elsewhere.

I found the food at Agami to be average at best (with the exception of the tasty oyster shooter), and definitely over-priced. My $12 "violet" martini was weak and tasted very similar to a chewable vitamin. I ordered the Zuke Salmon, and it came with not a single mushroom or hint of truffle oil. Service was fine and the decor is interesting, but the food will prevent me from returning.

I discovered this place by chance after a show at the Riv and I cannot eat sushi anywhere else ever since. Agami has an amazing decor, wonderful servers, delicious maki and nigiri. This is by far the best place in the city. The prices are on par with the food you receive and you almost never have to wait for a table. Agami is amazing

This is one seriously sexy little place, I love when they play the aquarium on flat screens. Atmosphere is a hybred of Feng shui and Alice and Wonderland. Food is Unbelievable ! ! ! Best sushi in city....and surprisingly never crowded. Asian staff that aims to please. Martini's are alittle expensive but man are they F,N good ! !
Go support (just not to often please) as I love how quaint this place is.

My girlfriend and i went in for a nice night out. We visited on a weekday, not busy at all. The restaurant was nice, but they sat us in a booth that could easily be described as Tilt-a-Whirl. I wasn't pleased that we had to sit facing another two tables(staring directly at each other). Less than intimate is an understaement, we almost asked them to join seeing as we shared the same expierience. I loved the food, decor, and location(blocks from my door). I will say it was Way overpriced. I have eaten at many of the finest Sushi restaurants in the city, and this food is the most overpriced by far.

The food was great. The inside of the restaurant is really nice and very hip and the service is truly impeccable. Be prepared to spend at least $30, which could be a bit of a downside for some but it's well worth the Agami experience.

Agami is a real gem. The maki creations are top quality and unique. Agami is a step above standard sushi fare and is full of surprises. Service was great. You will not go wrong here.

We love this place. The menu is great with plenty of sushi and sashimi choices. The presentation is excellent as well. Menu prices are moderate. Ambiance: Awesome music; the decor could use an update. Try the green turtle and the ginger martini!
