From the appearance of the restaurant, to the look and content menu, to the ambiance and atmosphere, to the quality of the food, you would think you walked into one of Mia Francesca's offspring that have sprung up all around Chicago. And that's not a bad thing. The ingredients are fresh, the flavors work well together, and the choices are interesting. We've been three times -- once for lunch, twice for dinner -- and had our small brood of children with us on one of the visits. Each trip has been more than worthwhile, and our children were welcome. The noise level was just right for a family (we didn't feel the need to keep our children's volume to a whisper) and there are enough choices on the menu to satisfy pasta lovers, meat lovers, and seafood lovers.
A newer, unrelated Italian spot, Scapa Italian Kitchen, recently opened up a couple of miles away in downtown Clarendon Hills, but it is nowhere near as good at a slightly higher price point. My wife isn't ready to write off Scapa quite yet due to its convenience to us, but, if I had my choice, I would choose ZaZa's every time over Scapa for good, solid Italian.
