Both the menu and the decor in Via Carducci are inspired by the simple style of Italian trattoria dining. Located in Lincoln Park's westernmost reaches, the modestly sized dining room with its butcher paper-covered tablecloths, exposed brick walls and Baroque-inspired murals is an appropriate setting for a rustic Southern Italian menu. Reasonably priced pasta favorites such as spaghetti carbonara, rigatoni primavera and gnocchi al pomodoro form the heart of a menu that also includes pizzas prepared the Italian way (thin crust). There are also reasonably priced panini, ranging from a house-made meatball to eggplant parmigiana.
