Memo to self: if I ever open a restaurant in Bucktown or Wicker- do not use a Serif Font on the menu. It's hard to read- especially in Italian, and it isn't hip enough for the design friendly crowds that inhabit the neighborhood. Decent food though.

Was excited to try this restaurant for this first time tonight and ended up being pleasantly surprised by the food and horrified by the service. As previous reviewers mentioned, you sit like sardines in this place. The food was great . . . and that could make up for the cramped quarters, except for the fact that the service is horrible! Our server never told us about specials, never checked on us, and was just rude in general. There are too many other good Italian places in the city to eat at place with such bad service. I probably won't be going back.

Via Carducci La Sorella is a great little italian restaurant and a welcomed addition to the wicker park area. I have bene there with my husband and with different friends and family many times, and it never fails us. It is small, but that is what makes the atmosphere quaint and enjoyable. In the summer the side "patio" is quite romantic in the evening (lights stung over head, tiny 2 person tables.) I can't say enough about how good it is, we have tried nearly everything on the menu and have loved it all! Try the sausage and peppers for an appetizer, yum!

We have been there and we think the food is wonderful and the pricing is competitive for the area and food; however, you are packed in there like sardines that you actually feel you are having dinner with the people seated behind, besides and in front of you. We will only go back in the summer. The seating is outside give you personal space and great people watching.

Moving from NYC was a bit of a shock when I realized that people's idea of good Italian food here was Maggiano's full of canned sauces. Both Via Carducci locations are outstanding! The food is made to order and comes out piping hot. I don't even want to single out a dish because they are all so delicious. Even the pizzas and salads are great. They do almost any special request and the staff and owners are very friendly. Be ware, as with any popular restaurant, they get seriously busy on the weekends and you might end up waiting a while for a table.

My wife and I absolutely love this place. We have never had a bad experience. The caprese salad is exceptional. The meat and cheese plates are fabulous. Service is always good, nice place to split a bottle of wine, and the management is friendly. We eat out 3-4 times / week and love this place.

We live in the neighborhood and had been meaning to try this spot out. We gave it time to ensure all kinks would be worked out. Well...no luck. This is a cute space, but the service was subpar. The busboys were much more attentive than the actual waitress, but they were running around so much that our water glasses were barely refilled. No offers of refills on sodas. The place was not that busy but we rarely saw our server. We had to solicit information on specials "so, are there any specials tonight?" which is pretty unusual. Our appetizer was pretty tasty, the special ravioli okay (though the tomato cream sauce was inexplicably loaded with mushrooms. I mean LOADED). My entree of chicken vesuvio was "eh" at best, with enough rosemary in it to make me cough. We'll probably go back and try the pizzas, which looked good as they passed our table, since we live so darn close. Hope they can improve things.

Went there for dinner, I do not get out much and had had a good experience there before so I took my wife for a nice dinner on there patio. After 15 minutes sitting at our table I went up to the bar to order a drink because our waiter dropped off water and bread and did not even give us a chance to order drinks. The bartender kept telling me she would get to me but after another 5 minutes my wife came and got me and we decided to leave. On the way out we asked for the manager who was just hanging out in front and he said sorry without even attempting to help us. I will never go to this restaurant again and I recommend going up the road to Natalinos on Chicago where we wound up going and getting great service and great food. I don't know how a place like Via Carducci La Sorella can stay in business with such a lousy staff.

Had lunch there today. Very disappointing. Service was non-existant, food was average at best. The Involtini di melenzana (rolled eggplant ) appetizers was good - (sauce had flavor even thought it was watery). The appetizer of roasted potatoe/peppers lacked flavor - could use a dose of garlic, oil , salt, pepper, flavor....anything.
The prepared daily slow cooked meat sauce could have used more cooking - watery, and dull flavored. Server showed up once - took the complete order - delivered the food never to be seen again til I was looking for the bill. No inquiry into satisfaction, no picking up of emplty plates between courses. There were plenty of servers - don't know where ours went. Will not be going back...like i said - disappointing.

My wife and I attempted to use a gift card we received as a wedding preset, but for some reason it would not register in their system. In spite of the fact that VIA CARDUCCI dropped the ball on their record-keeping, they demanded that we pay with another method. The idea was even floated that we could just be scamming them! (Our server was MIA at this point.) The head manager was not in, and the woman left in charge was not willing to do anything except write down my telephone number -- now I have to go back and argue to get our gift card honored. We were embarrassed, insulted and infuriated. This was supposed to be a romantic dinner, but it ended up being a ruined evening. I won't even comment on the food or environment. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I will never dine there again.
