The Grotto Oakbrook : User Reviews
I don't know what restaurant you people with the negative reviews were at....couldn't have been the Grotto. Best Italian food in the burbs! I love the atmosphere and the food is incredible. I haven't had a bad experience and I've been there many times

The Grotto Oak Brook is a great place to go after work and hang out at the bar. Bartenders know how to make a good Martini and the atmosphere is awesome - sophisticated yet laid back. I had dinner there once and enjoyed myself. A little pricey but well worth the service and quality of food. The waiter made great recommendations - I had the Salmon for an entree and the Green Bean salad. He had the Filet Mignon with sauteed mushrooms.

My wife's birthday was completely ruined by terrible service, poor food, and wretched ambiance of the grotto. This restaurant is quite expensive and not at all worth the money.

This place is great. The food is great and the staff is friendly. The patio was nice and fun, when we came with a group of friends. Its a one-stop place for the burbs - good food and fun after-diinner atmosphere. Good music and a good mix of people. All my friends that I have brought here love it. It has a more lively up-beat feel in the late evening hours, then some of the other spots.

The people running this establishment should be ashamed of themselves for charging so much for an experience that is so flawed in every respect. I could have recreated the meal I had here (and saved A LOT of money) by eating the charred remnants of wood from my fire place.

I've been to the Grotto restaurant a half dozen times in the last year and have had a great experience every time. The food is very good, the service is friendly, and all three areas of the restaurant are nice in their own way. Our favorite place to eat is on the very large outdoor patio, with two fire pits and view of the pond on the corner of Myers Road and Butterfield. The inside restaurant is also very nice, and the bar area is really warm and inviting with good music, TVs, large bar, and several tables. They have live music twice a week. There are a lot of really good restaurants along Butterfield Rd. and this is one of them. I'm amazed at the few negative reviews; I'm not saying those people didn't have a bad experience -- I'm just surprised because every time we've been there it's been GREAT.

My wife and I recently had dinner, and our daughters baptism at Grotto. Our dinner was very satisfying, the service excellent, and the ambiance pleasing. Our daughter's baptism for 50 guests & 15 kids was excellent. The food was great, service excellent, and the room very beautiful. I would reccomend Grotto, and guests of our party said they would return.

Not good at all. Poor service, revolting food, and a horrible atmosphere all contributed to a thoroughly atrocious experience. Dine here at your own risk.
