Now this is what pizza is supposed to taste like folks. I don't even like pizza but this is the real deal. You go here for the pizza and not some romantic setting. Get a hotel room for that. If you like sausage, you can never go wrong ordering the salsiccia pizza. Everybody that I take here from out of town just loves this place. Yes, you should order one pizza per person. It sounds and looks like a lot, but you will be surprised that one pizza is enough and you will keep eating until it's all gone. It is perfectly thin and baked to perfection using very fresh ingredients where you won't feel completed stuffed how someone usually does after eating pizza. This is Italian pizza made with love. Chris is an awesome waiter. The owner is an awesome guy. He even gave our table a free appetizer because we wouldn't shut up about how great the pizza is. I try to go twice a month and there was a time I have gone 3 times a week. Im craving this pizza now as I type.

First, SN is excellent and popular. Sorry, the secret is out. Therefore, it can't be a 'neighborhood' eatery unless you consider the entire city and suburbs its neighborhood. SN is very much a Neapolitan Pizza experience NOT a Chicago pizza experience--so no comparison to the well-known Chicago style pizza. The Neapolitan pizza is a soft thin crust, in Rome, which I just returned from, the pizza would be almost cracker thin and crisp. The high-quality fresh ingredients are not smothering the pizza but float on the surface--who doesn't love a stuffed Malnatti's with a ton of sausage? Again, not this pizza! SN maintains the pizza's integrity by serving it uncut, adding to the interactive experience and ambiance. If you're last meal was three or four hours before, you can eat the individual pizza with no problem. The owner was considerate in making everyone feel welcomed and part of the house. I can see him wanting to get everyone seated as soon as possible, not to bring in more money but to get everyone taken care of. Seriously, when your business is almost always packed, would you worry about making more money. Our server, Chris, was always considerate and attentive. He was actually complementary and engaging without being obtrusive to our table of eight. The cost of any dining experience is relative to the quality received. By all accounts, our group outing to Spacca Napoli was worth every cent. The quality of the ingredients was excellent; the owner's customer care was admirable; and the service was stellar. I'm looking forward to returning to Spacca Napoli again in February, at a time in my schedule that I can experience more leisurely dining. Buon Appetito! Costante

Not sure what has happened to this place? Its a shame as it has certainly lost its neighborhood feel and we have moved it down on our monthly to-eat list. Actually at one point we use to leave the kids with a sitter and eat here every Wednesday! Yes, the pizza is still good but part of the draw for us was the experience. We used to be welcomed with handshakes and smiles. The service over our last couple visits hasn't been terrible but has been extremely blah. Call me needy but we always enjoyed being made felt at home and special. However, I would recommend this place. My complaints are not enough for you to not at least try the pizza but unfortunately Spacca has lost its romantic touch.

not terrible but overpriced, soupy pizza (over $50 for two pizzas two beers and a salad). our server put me to sleep reading the specials of the day. my partner is in interior design and liked the decor of the place, other than that we were not impressed. it was not busy so we did not encounter a wait nor were asked to leave our table as mentioned in other reviews. ss

Not our first time here but certainly our last. The pizzas are always tasty but the owner is insulting. I've read about the 'gracious' owner and been fortunate enough to have him give us cheese while waiting for a table, but we saw a side of him our last visit that merits this review. Our bill for 4 was close to $200 with tip and as soon as it was paid the owner (as the other poster clued us in on Mr. Jonathan Goldsmith) was staring and pacing around our table, as if to say "get up and get lost". My fiancee asked our waitress if they needed the table and she looked at the owner and then back at us as to say, well... yeah.. She was clearly embarrassed and our entire table felt uncomfortable.
I don't care how good the product is, if you are making the people who are buying it feel unwelcome, it is BAD business. All four of us were turned off and attempted to make eye contact with him on the way out but he avoided it and took off in the other direction. We had built this place up to our friends and they were also appalled and disappointed.
No free pieces of cheese or overpriced pizza is worth being made felt unwanted.

This was my fourth and final visit to Spacca Napoli. Two visits ago, I was dining with a friend at a two-top. After our plates were cleared, Jonathan Goldsmith (the owner) came up to us and asked if we would mind moving to another table as he was trying to set up for a party of eight. He offered us each a grappa and apologized for the inconvenience. We obliged without question.
Last night I was dining with 3 friends at a four-top. We had reservations and were seated promptly. After completing our meals (including dessert), our waiter offered us the check. At that time, we had been at our table for a little over an hour. In the middle of our conversation, Jonathan Goldsmith came to our table and asked if he could settle our bill, to which I replied, "No, we haven't looked at it yet." Shortly there after, we put our credit cards in the jacket. Jonathan Goldsmith collected it and then returned it to us. Within 2 minutes of signing our credit card receipts, he returned to our table and asked if we would mind moving to the bar (where he would offer us grappa or a drink of our choice) because there were a lot people who were waiting to be seated. In protest, I told him that this was the second time in a month I had been asked to vacate my table at his restaurant and that I found it in poor taste to be asked to leave the dining room to make room for another party. Taking issue with my protest, he told me that he was sorry, but that he was "trying to be nice" and didn't want to make his other customers wait 1.5 hours to be seated. Frustrated, we left the restaurant.
Sadly, Jonathan Goldsmith's behavior exemplifies what is experienced in American eateries across the country: namely, it isn't about making the customer feel welcome or encouraged to digest one's meal at the table on which it was served. It's about turning the tables and making sure that every last available dollar is taken in by the end of the night. Fortunately, I live in a city where there are a number of fantastic pizzerias and Italian restaurants where the owners and managers encourage you to enjoy your meal (Calos and Pizza D.O.C. being 2 perfect examples) in a relaxed, unhurried setting.

We drove 45 minutes to this awesome find, as there are no true Italian style pizza's in the W Burbs. Greated and seated promptly, excellent server- prompt, courteous, attentive and not overbearing. As we were with our 2 young children, we were looking to just eat.. no apps, drinks, etc., sometimes this results in subpar service- not here :) Ambiance was simple, just as you would find in Italy. Excellent food quality. Other posts have stated price is high, but mozzarella di bufala, prosucitto and other quality imported ingredients are not cheap. It is a very good value, highly reccommended!

An instructor from Sur LaTable gave our group rave reviews about the pizza here how it was authentic, trained chef and ovens from italy. So we trekked there to find a nice outdoor seating area. Our server was polite and efficient. The insalata mista was dellicious, especially the dressing, You could drink the balsamic vinegar. But the pizza was awful. The crust was extremely soggy. The cheese was practically non-existent. The basil was thrown in one clump. However, the sausage had a fresh seasoned taste. The outside crust of the pizza had a good chew and taste to it, but it was mush in the middle. Our bill was about $60 which I thought was crazy for what we ordered. I think there are better values and crispier pizza out there.

Sorry to say this but the pizza was not cooked when we order and when we ask to cook it longer the server was very rude and not very friendly after that! I drove all the way from Geneva to come and try this pizza and was unhappy! I hope others will not agree with me! but I will never return!
