Sapore di Napoli

My husband and I love Sapore di Napoli. The pizza is the closest that we have found outside of Italy. My favorite is the Bufalina Pizza and my husband’s favorite is the Calzone con Prosciutto Cotto. Our favorite salad is the Mediterranea. The ingredients are so fresh! The place is small, but we would go at the less busy times and never had a problem getting a table for two. We never had a problem with the service. Everyone was always really nice. We recently moved from Chicago to Cincinnati and really miss this place! We loved being able to walk there from our condo and get a bottle of wine. Cincinnati doesn’t have any pizza places that even come close to this. We always make sure we stop by when we come back to visit Chicago!

The pizza was okay. The bill came out expensive compared to some other pizza places. I ordered 2 appetizers and a pizza per person. The tables were set close to each other and not comfortable. Maybe pizza isn't the strength, because the appetizers were pretty good. The problem was, I was hungry for pizza! I might go back and order a salad only. It might be good.

What a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. It's by far my favorite thin crust pizza I've eaten in Chicago. The sauce was delicious. I also enjoyed the quality of the ingredients. We loved our pizza so much, we ordered another one and ate the whole thing.
Whatever delays others have experienced did not exisit the evening we dined. Our first pizza arrived very quickly. Chef Jennifer was delightful.

We stopped into Sapore for a quick weeknight dinner and weren’t disappointed. Everything was tasty, from the beet salad to the Margherita pizza to the creamy gelato and the Intelligentsia coffee. Service was cordial and helpful. The décor is minimal and the Neapolitan pizza is not quite on a par with the exemplary version at Spacca Napoli, but Sapore is pleasant and the food is good. I’ll be back, I’m sure.

We've been multiple times, and have had nothing but great experiences. When it's crowded it can be a little a awkward walking in as there's virtually no separation between the door and dining room, but that's the only complaint. The salads and appetizers (antipasto board and caprese salad in particular) are fresh and wonderful, the pizza is fantastic, and all the ingredients are of the highest quality(buffalo mozzarella, procuittio, etc.) I can't speak for the pasta- i would stick with pizza. With the fact this is BYOB, it's one of the best deals for fantastic dining in the city!

Where shall we start? arrived at 7:15- got water - ordered simple beet salad - got it at 8 - ordered 1 pizza and 1 penne pasta with bolognese sauce - got the pasta at 8:30 - it was cold, bland (heard of Chef Boyardee? that's what this was) At 8:45 - still no pizza (were they killing a pig in the back for the sausage?) - walked out at 8:48 with no pizza having been served. Horrible service by one of the co-owners no less - who actuallly yelled at us about the Economy when we asked where our food was and snarled at us when we asked for bread and olive oil (we are at an Italian restaurant , yes? ) after being there 1 hour. NEVER AGAIN!

If you do not like the pizza here, the problem is with you and not the restaurant. Stay home and heat up a Tombstone because your taste buds are broken. This is the most official Neapolitan pizza I've had outside of Italy. The gelato here is amazing, so leave room.

The owners of this restaurant are very nice and the prosciutto calzone is amazing! Add to that the fact that it is BYOB and close to wine an liquir stores where you can grab the bottle of your choice...a definite favorite of mine!

While lacking in ambiance, the food more than makes up for it. The pizzas are delicious and the salads are fresh and more creative than a traditional pizza parlor.

While we had a 8:00 PM dinner reservation yesterday (Friday night), we weren't seated until 8:35 or so. The owner made up for it. After our meal he gave us free gellato! The pizza was wonderful - such fresh ingrediants, it was worth the wait. We brought a bottle of wine with us and we were set. We sat at the bar and watched the pizzas being made and that was enjoyable to us. All the staff/cooks were very friendly.
Although we didn't do this, I noticed some of the people that were waiting for tables outside asked for glasses and started drinking their vino on the sidewalk - I'm sure it made the wait better.
Overall worth the wait and we will definitely return.
