Went in for lunch and it was so dead I thought they were closed, but I still had to wait 5 minutes before being acknowledged by staff. Manager shouted to me from across the room, asking what I needed. Seeing as though I was at the check-in podium at lunchtime, you'd think he should know why I was there. Definitely set the wrong tone, which was not enhanced by average food. There are a million great Italian restaurants in this city. No reason to go to this one.

This Is the first time I have been to Rosebud Trattoria since they changed their name from Ballo. I stopped by this past tuesday evening, and had a wonderful time. The food, service, and ambiance was great. Comfortable but still Trendy/classy. The Male Manager was fun and knowledgeable, and put the icing on our trip there. I recommend Rosebud Trattoria to anyone in the River North neighborhood, or even just for one-timers in Chicago! Cheers Rosebud!

My wife and I and another couple walked into Ballo on a recent Sunday evening and left ruminating how we had not come in before, despite walking by numerous times. Our food was terrific and enormous in size, the staff pleasant and helpful and the restaurant alive and personal like you would expect from a local around the corner. Our waiter, Michael, was especially attentive and organized the perfect meal and wine pairings from the antipasto to the gelato. We will be sure to be back!

I came downtown with some of my girlfriends and stumbled upon Ballo. I didn't know it was a Rosebud restaurant. We sat in one of the large booths and out waiter took amazing care of our needs. He recommended we split a variety of appetizers and entrees so we each got to try all different kinds of food the restaurant had to offer. Thanks to Danny for a great evening, I know we will be back next time we are in town.

The couples had dinner last week. It was great to see danny back. the food was better than ever! The music and movies was perfect. Danny was attentive as always. He took our menus away like in years past. From a to z he took us from cocktails & appts to mamas meatballs and bottles of great wine. (2 whites & 4 reds) Danny familystyled 4 entrees & potatoes & veggies to die for! He did a very unique shift. We all shared a barrata which he educated us on, WOW!!! Desserts, ports and coffee did us in. Danny introduced us to the managers & chef sonny. great touch! Overall the best dining experience ever. Thankyou to rosebud, the managers, chef sonny, & danny, We will be back soon. Lastly, the surprise lemoncellos b4 we left was very inpressable.

my mom and I visited ballo recently before a permormance of our show, the food is absoluty great and they had the best glass of wine I had ever taste recomended it by the server Marco, when it all come to it Marco the server recomended diner and the best thing was that it came split for us from the kitchen. great wine,great food and great service. A+++

Awesome food, great ambience, great service. We had the bolognese and it was so yummy. Our dates had the spaghetti. The girls and guys split their dishes. Definately enough food. Danny the waiter was so awesome. We never had to want for anything. Great date place and sit outside if you can. Nice and quiet !

As long as I've lived downtown, I inadvertently missed going to Ballo --- I went on Saturday and was really impressed. My waiter, Danny, was so attentive --- the meatballs were delicious --- and the canoli was incredible. It's now on my "favorites" list. I will definitely be back for more.

Ballo lives up to the high expectations my wife and I had for this Rosebud restaurant and then some. From the "Mama's Meatballs" (a huge helping of fresh salad and 2 gigantic meatballs), to the bistro pizzas, salads, chicken parm, brick chicken (a WHOLE, and extremely moist chicken!), carbonera, and other dishes we have had, Ballo has become a regular destination for us (and a number of others who we constantly see here) because of it's consistent excellence.
The staff is pleasant, attentive, and professional. Wine selection is good and the weekly specials are a must to check out. We'll continue to visit Ballo and pass on the has-been restaurants in the River North area.
