Rosebud Theater District: User Reviews
Had dinner at Rosebud Theater District in early December. This was our first time at this location but we have dined at other Rosebud's over the years. This was a pre theater dinner and we were very pleased. Both of our entrees were top notch and the service was snappy without being pushy. Prices (food and wine) were very reasonable. The only note of caution is the restaurant is very loud.

Salmon salad - salmon was juicy/perfectly grilled, just the right amount of dressing. Tuna salad is also pretty good (salmon is best). Friend enjoyed the linguine with clams. Portions are generous. Server was charming and attentive.

I felt lucky to get a reservation during my requested timeframe (trying to make an 8 p.m. show) at RTD. Also nice, I could park my car at the Rosebud Prime across the street and leave it there during the show. That's where the good stuff ends.
We arrived 1/2 hour early and they led us to the worst table in the place. When I politely asked for another table, the snobby hostess told us that she didn't have a booth. When I pointed out a nicer table she indicated that she couldn't seat us there because it was going to "broken down" to two smaller tables. I asked if we could wait a bit and she said it would be 30-45 minutes. She finally asked the host who said "I have NOTHING else." We finally took a crappy table on the foyer area.
Service was very slow and when the waitress brought our appetizer, the plates she brought were not clean (not filthy, but three of four had bits of parsley or basil on them). When I mentioned it, she said (can you believe this?), "It's ok--it's just basil" and started to wipe them off with some icky napkin/rag that she had in her pocket. I pointed out a dried speck of sauce on one plate and she got my drift and took the plates back and brought clean ones.
The chicken parmagiana was really good and the portion generous. Cheese ravioli was good (portion a bit small, but okay). Salmon special was overcooked and skimpy. My food was just ridiculous--a shrimp linguine special. The shrimp were like salad shrimp (from a can, perhaps) with no tails. The sauce was really bland. The four main ingredients were there, but other than the combination of those flavors, it was really uncreative and just not what I expected from a Rosebud restaurant.
I would definitely not recommend this restaurant.

Delicious chopped salad, calamari, decent pasta. A little slow on the entree delivery. Pleasant atmosphere.
Report This ReviewI made my reservation and then read these reviews, so I was a little worried about going, but I did not experience any of the problems mentioned in other reviews. They quickly fixed the only problem- we had six people at a round table, where it has the leaves that flip out to make it round, but can be folded down to make a square table. Two of the leaves were broken and slanted downward, making them difficult to eat at. They easily moved us all to a new table and threw in a free dessert! The food was very good, worth the price (the Sausage and Peppers appetizer had some of the best Italian sausage I've ever had; the Filetto Portobello was flavorful and tender, I hardly needed a knife!) The service was good; when we sat down I told our waiter what time we needed to be on our way out due to our theater engagement, and he was right on time with that. I would definitely go back.
Report This ReviewI recommended Rosebud to some clients for lunch and have regretted it ever since. First, the service was extremely slow and inattentive. Also, the quality of the food is not what I had expected for the prices. I think I've had better Italian food at Sabarro. The worst part of the whole meal was when one of my guests found several shrimp in her CREAM OF MUSHROOM SOUP. It turns out that she is allergic to shrimp and didn't realize what they were until she bit into them. We called over the waiter and explained the situation, and he sent the manager, who simply gave her his business card and asked her to contact her if she required medical attention. Not only did this disrupt the business lunch, but it reflected poorly on my firm since we recommended the place.
Report This ReviewA group of friends and I went there last Thursday night and it was wonderful. The waiter was very attentive but not to a point of being intrusive. The food was delish and portions were huge!
Report This ReviewWow, I'm really surprised to see all the negative reviews. I've been here a few times for lunch and I thought it was delicious. Both times I got a huge plate of pasta puttanesca that is loaded with capers, tomatoes and black olives. Being in the lobby of a building is a little odd, but most of the seating is off the main entry. Service has always been very attentive.
