We had a good time on our first visit to Pizza Art! It’s a cozy, friendly place with a nice range of Italian staples. The grilled seasonal veggies were excellent (if you like a bit of fresh garlic). White bean soup was hearty, smooth and smoky. A Margherita pizza was thin, crisp and tasty -- not the same as the Neapolitan style pizza at Spacca Napoli, but good in its own right. This seems like a neighborhood gem, and I’m sure we’ll return soon...

I loved my food!! Bruchetta-great, blue cheese salad-great, pizza-great, service-ehh.
The night we were there they ran out of ice, how does that happen? Also they're credit card machine was not working, so I had to run out side in the rain to find an ATM, and our server did not seem concerned in the least bit.

Walking down the Rockwell ave with my wife we noticed this super-cute patio in front of the restaurant. We weren't too hungry but we decided to try it out. We were greeted by our funny yet professional and courteous waiter (he told us his name was Sunny). We ordered brushetta, crostini and our waiter's favorite pizza Capriciossa with smoked meat. WHAT A KNOCKOUT!!!! the brushetta/crostini a PERFECT appetizer and the pizza that we ate was AWESOME!!!! lots of flavor, very zesty garlic flavor. All in all our bill was not over $20. Our waiter didn't seem to be bothered with such a small order and that was really great - we left 50% tip for a great server and promised him that we would be back.... VERY soon!

The food here is great--pizza, salad, bruschetta, all excellent--but the service is terrible. Aside from being inattentive and rude, two water bottles are placed on the table at the beginning of the meal and cost $3.50 each. Servers make no note of this and seem to anticipate you foolishly opening the bottles and then paying for them. Particularly confusing is that tap water must be requested and is then delivered in the same bottles that the existing water, which is not free, is packaged in. We love the food but will think twice about returning after such questionable customer service and policies that appear intended to take advantage of patrons.

All I can say is WOW... this great little place gave me my favourite meal whilst over visiting friends in Chicago.
The food is basically an amazing twist on Italian classics supported by probably the only REAL pizza oven in this town; having lived in both Rome & Naples I can tell you this pizza is up there with the best. I love the way the chef isn't scared to step into the unknown with things like his unique Bruschette and the Bolognese Pizza (which are both to die for by the way).
I guess everyone's service experience varies because I came back twice in a 10 day stay and didn't have a problem either time but even if I did the quality of the food would have cleared any minor server issues from memory especially when my party paid ONLY $20 each including tip each time.
Basically get yourself down to this place if you into great food in a cool atmosphere (good music) that won't bust your wallet.
PS: BYOB with no cork fee... YAY!"

It doesn't get much better then this!
The one thing I have always loved about this place is that it's very European. Trust me, so am I. With the recession hitting the global trend has been toward places that don't have all the bells and whistles at extreme prices. Amazing food, good service and a comfortable setting are all that's needed. And this place has it all. I was shocked to find it in the middle of Chicago, but absolutely LOVE IT!
The food is light - leaving you the opportunity to eat an appetizer and a main without feeling sick. The service does what it's supposed to - it's there when I need it and doesn't interrupt my dinner. And it's the perfect place to get a bit dressy and feel out - or just stop in casually. No one will look at you twice.
Like I said, this place is well ahead all the "Italian" restaurants I have been to with clunky furniture, saturated fat and over enthused staff.
Did I say I LOVE the food?
Can't wait to go back...

A pleasantly small (hence cozy) place with friendly (though not always strictly attentive) service and a variety of thin crust pizzas, just as you would find in Italy. Of course, pizza would seem to be the main draw but the minestrone soup was uncommonly good and the smoked meat crostini were flavorful and plentiful. GREAT value- can't stress this enough, especially since it is BYOB without a corkage fee!

While at times the waitstaff is not the most attentive, this place is so low-key and laid-back you won't mind asking (if need be) for a refill. The bruschetta, with the homemade pita and LOADS of fresh feta, is to die for - and only $5! Plus all the pizzas are good and under $12, so you can experiment and not break the bank. BYOB is the icing on the cake, and the food always comes out fast and delicious. Definitely my fave neighborhood restaurant!

While the waitstaff is lacking/nonexistent, the food more than makes up for the slow, odd, and awkward service. Nice ambiance with the brick oven, open windows, and eclectic art. Excellent value, plus it's BYO.

I have to agree with the previous review, while the food was great, the service was absolutely embarrassing. I have been before and the food was very good, especially considering the cost. I recommended the place for a casual Mother's day evening out, and was incredibly embarrassed when our server with long blonde hair treated us so poorly that eveyone I was with said, although they really liked the food, would not be back due to the service. If you don't mind when your server rolls her eyes at you whenever you ask for anything, then I highly suggest trying this place for the food. If good service is important to you, steer clear.
