My girlfriend and I, who combined have over 28 years of bar, restaurant, and fine dining experiance, dined here for the first time last night, a Monday. Greeted slowly by a girl whom we later figured out was training, not because her trainer told us, because we only saw her lazy self once, but because we're in "the biz." Soup came before our appetzier, ever though we didn't order it that way and bread came after both appetizer and soup!!! HUH!! Never seen this in a restaurant before. Entees a petite filet order med-rare came out very close to med-well and our 16oz lobster tail was so over done it could hardly be cut. Never written a review on here before but being someone in the industry and appreciative of great food and service and willing to spend the money on it, I would highly recommend not going so far south on Rush to Stefani's and get a great meal up the road at Joe's. Who what a disappointment and a waste of money!!!!

I recently dined at Phil Stefani's and was pleased for the most part. As a special appetizer, they had kumamoto oysters (which not very many establishments offer). However, the oysters were very undersized and overpriced. I ordered the Filet Mignon medium rare and it was perfect. The service was a bit slow. Overall, I would try this place again but only if I was in a steak mood.
Report This ReviewUnbelievable Italian food here. Spoke with the chef after our meal and found out he moved here from Milan, Italy. After living in Tuscany for years, its nice to have somewhere in Chicago that can bring me back to that wonderful time. Harry Caray's is cute but this place is real. One of a kind homemade pastas and great steaks.
Report This ReviewThe food was not impressive at all for the price you pay. Not worth it! The servers were very tricky! They'll ask you if you want somethings, such as soup, salad, veggies...etc which don't come with the entree, so make sure you ask if those are part of the entree, so you won't be surprised when you get your bill! NOTHING COMES WITH THE ENTREE!
The service there, don't even mention it! My friends and I were there last night, we had a big group, and spent almost $600 on drinks and food, and as soon as we paid the bill, they asked us to leave!!! YES! The manager came and told us that they need the table!!! HOW HORRIBLE! We have celebration every month, and I surely won't go back there anymore!
Went to this restaurant on Saturday night. We had reservations for 7:30 and were seated right away. The tables are a little close, and due to this the waiters seem to have difficulty reaching their tables by having to go around chairs, coats, etc... The food was excellent. I ordered the the gnochhi, which melted in my mouth. It was the best I've ever had. My fiancee had the filet, which was also very good. The bread basket was plentiful with lots of different kinds of bread, and the wine choices were great. We had the chocolate souffle for dessert, which was decadent. The liquid center just oozed onto the plate. All in all a pretty good dining experience. Better than Morton's, on par with Capital Grille, but Ruth's Chris still wins hands down as the best steak restaurant in the city!
Report This ReviewLove this restaurant! Upon arriving with a couple of my female co-workers, we strolled over into the swanky, upscale bar where we enjoyed martinis. When seated, we were immediately greeted by the friendliest server I've met in a long time, Joe (I think). He was very knowledgeable and recommended perfect appetizers and entrees for our group. Their filet is definiely one of the best in the city. After dinner, we continued drinking at the bar and felt very at home. We stayed almost all night! And just before closing, a manager gave us a tour of the beautiful private rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors. I will definitely be hosting my next corporate group dinner here. I would recommend this restaurant and bar to anyone looking for a great place to socialize and have a delicious dinner.
Report This ReviewFood was okay, but in very small portions...definitely not what I would expect from a Stefani restaurant. Service was horrible...waiter didn't check on us until we were almost finished with our meal & he even forgot my salad, which I watched him write down after telling me the dressing choices. Food is completely overpriced for what you actually get. This is what I would definitely call a "tourist trap." Phil should close this restaurant down and reopen his one good restaurant -- Stefani's. What a big mistake closing those doors.
Report This ReviewI'm convinced that this is chicago's best kept steak house secret! Went here with a family party of 12 for dinner last night and loved it! The seafood and steak were wonderful, service impeccable, and the room was well lit and comfortable. Not packed with tourists--it was well populated with diners but not over crowded or chaotic. Definitely a classic old school chicago feel without the grunge. Walking distance to andy's for some after dinner jazz or the billy goat for a late night drink.
Report This ReviewI brought my fiance here this past Saturday evening and it was fantastic from start to finish. I loved my pasta here and it was also really reasonable for under $15. My fiance ordered the porterhouse steak, and raved that it was the best steak he has ever had. He orders his steak medium and he just couldn't get over how perfectly cooked it was. The wine list was very broad and had a number of bottles for under $35. The bill for two of us with salads, a pasta, a steak and mashed potatoes, and a bottle of wine was $115. We have spent much more and gotten much less at other Chicago steakhouses. The atmosphere was romantic but not trying to be, the service was impeccable, and the food was unbelievable. I would recommend this restaurant with confidence. They made a non-steak eater and a steak lover both leave incredibly impressed, and I think that is a high achievement.
