Great for Pasta!

I love this place. If you're looking for a good pasta dish, where you can add chicken or other meats, for a DECENT price, this place is great. My boyfriend and I have been here many times, because it's afforable, especially for college students!
Go there, dont think you will be disappointed.
Check out the awesome mural on the wall!

Average Lincoln Park Pasta
By ekekw from Bucktown, August 5, 2008

This is a restaurant that is in business due to its good location. My farfalle was satisfying, if bland. Wine was ok. Service was ok. My main complaint is that it was loud and hot and stuffy and our waitress tried to rush us out after eating (we were debating having another glass of wine). Also, cash only is annoying. I won't seek this restaurant out agan, but I wouldn't refuse to if someone suggested it and it was convenient.

very disappointing

Having read the positive reviews on this site, I went with a friend to Pasta Palazzo last night. The following aspects of the experience were very disappointing:
(1) a Time Out review had recommended the house chianti as "a good value" -- that's true if you want a completely flavorless gulp of alcohol from a juice glass. (The water, meanwhile, was served in plastic cups.)
(2) both my dish (the eggplant and penne) and my friend's dish (farfalle with goat cheese and pine nuts) were mediocre at best. The eggplant dish was too salty and did not have enough cheese (a rare complaint from me, but there was essentially a single slice of fresh mozzarella). Spice was there but did not really contribute any flavor. Meanwhile, the goat cheese completely overwhelmed the farfalle dish, and didn't work with the sweet tomatoes.
(3) When we gave the waitress a credit card to pay the bill, we were informed that they are cash only. I did not see a single sign (let alone the typical large one, or a notice on the menu) that would have alerted me to this beforehand. We had to go to an ATM. Frustrating.
(4) After giving the waitress cash for the bill, she returned with about $5 less change than expected, and explained that she noticed an error on the bill (they forgot to charge for the second glass of weak chianti) and had corrected it. I checked and she was right; they had forgot to charge. But it was completely tacky to alter the bill after I had already given her money to pay it, especially after she had sent me off to an ATM to pay it.

In short, the food and service fall somewhere between mediocre and awful. Not at all recommended.

My fiancee and I were there last night and we were surprised at how good the food was. They offer gourmet tasting pasta dishes without the hefty price tag. Service was exceptional as well.

We're going back tonight and we're taking our friend with us to try it out. I will recommend this place to all my friends.

Have been here twice when other places near Armitage have been too croweded. The pasta is amazing, and served in huge portions. My crowd of four rolled late on a Saturday, and they made room for us at the counter, no problem. Fair warning - they are still cash-only.

Was in town to visit relatives. One of them recommended that we meet at Pasta Palazzo. All of us had an incredible meal. Very good grilled calamari, a gigantic grilled veggie salad and some of the best pasta I've had in ages (and I'm an addict). The atmosphere is a little crowded but that makes it fun. The service was excellent - they seem to really enjoy their customers. There seemed to be a lot of "regulars" in when we were there.

What a great find!! The food is fresh and cooked right in front of you. The gourmet menu is filled with a variety of delicious choices, however, you can custom-make your own pasta sauce too. Very affordable, especially for the quality of food and service. Two thumbs WAY UP!!
