The surroundings were kind of strange, but once we got settled in, the service was good and the food wasnt bad. Not the best Italian in Bucktown or Chicago though.

5/2/08: Met some friends for dinner. The food was good but not good enough to overlook the service. We had to ask on two separate occasions to have wine bottles opened. We also had to ask to place our order. The service was leisurely as one diner put it and as the wine bottles emptied, we were ok with that.
We were seated by the door to the patio which was propped open. The breeze was too much for half our table so we shut the door. A man came over and propped open the door. Didn't ask anyone as to why it might have been closed. A diner from another table came over and shut the door. The man came back and propped it open again. When the breeze blew our menus/napkins off the table, the waitress shut the door.
When the man came back again I said half joking "Enough with the door. Please,it's too much wind". Apparently, he didn't like that because he looked at me and the table and said "I need this table for 9pm". We were shocked. We sat down at 7:15 and it was now 8:55. The funny thing was we didn't even have our check.
When the waitress did finally show up with the check, we asked her who the man was and, not surprisingly, she said it was the owner. With all the restaurants in Chicago, there are a multitude of choices to spend your money and Lucia will not be a choice for me. His behaviour was rude and completely uncalled for.

I went on a Friday night with a group of 6 girls; we were seated right away (had made a reservation) and over the next couple of hours were treated to a great meal, great service, and great atmosphere. We all ordered different things and all loved everything! Our server was very patient with us, did not rush us at all (even though we took our sweet time..). Can't wait to go back again! Oh and the BYOB is a huge plus!

My wife and I went to Lucia for the first time on April 3. The food was excellent. I had the buccatini, which had a fabulous sauce. My wife's dish (sorry, I forgot what she had) was excellent as well. The minestrone was good, but needs a little more seasoning. I liked the baked clams a lot. Service was attentive and very friendly. I love that it's BYOB, however their glassware needs help. That's the case with most BYO restaurants however, so I've started bringing my own stemware. If I lived in the area, I would go to this place every week.

I was delighted to find a BYOB in Wicker Park. The food was good, but a bit inconsistent (some dishes better than others). Overall, it was good, but the service was poor. We seemed to be an inconvenience to our server. At one point, apparently we weren't quick enough with our order, so the server simply walked away. What's up with that?! If they sort out the service, I'd definitely go back for the food and the BYOB.

The food is delicious! The minute you walk into the door, you are transported back to Italy. The deli selection is incredible. Porsciutto, mortadella, provolone and many other Italian favorites. The pasta salad is always fresh and the sub sandwiches are made to order. Don't forget to say hi to LIA!

Despite the poor reviews below, I went on a Saturday night and had a great experience. The menu was expansive and simple dishes were executed well. This is the perfect if you are looking for a casual meal at a reasonable price.

Tried to go there for a birthday dinner and they claim they lost the reservation...left us on a Saturday night scrambling without much of an apology

This restaurant was an utter disappointment. I've had better food on airplanes. The calamari was really greasy and overcooked. The meat lasagna was old and reheated. Its bottom was brown, and the noodles were so over-cooked that they resembled over-cooked potatoes. It was also completely unseasoned and the meat was really dry.

Love having this restaurant in my neighborhood. The BYO keeps the price down and the food is very tasty and authentic -- I see pastas & entrees on this menu that are generally not on most Italian restaurants here in the states. Service is friendly and the dining room is nice and cozy.
