- Price range: $$ ($9-$15)
A Chicago favorite since 1950, this locally owned-and-operated chain (yes, there really was a Leona) serves gargantuan portions of Italian favorites like ravioli and lasagna, thin crust and Sicilian-style deep dish pizza, including honey wheat and butter crust options, plus all-American fare like barbecued baby back ribs, Buffalo chicken wings and burgers. There are also plenty of vegetarian items on the eclectic menu, with choices like marinated veggie-and-tofu skewers, and fish lovers will appreciate the herb-crusted salmon and deep-fried catfish. The tongue-in-cheek menu claims that "a la carte is for wimps," giving diners two sides with all the entrees (with choices like wedge fries with sour cream).
