Chicago restaurateur Jerry Kleiner brings his signature style to the western suburbs at this Italian spot helmed by executive chef Jim Kilberg, who’s fresh from opening Kleiner’s most recent city venture, Via Ventuno. Il Poggiolo (which translates to "the balcony"—it’s located in a former silent movie theater) serves updated takes on Italian classics, such as handmade spaghetti with meat ragu and breaded veal cutlets with arugula. The wine lists features about 50 bottles from across Italy, with 17 selections available by the glass. If you're looking for a quirkier cocktail, try the strawberry-balsamic martini (Belvedere vodka, lime juice, simple syrup, strawberries and balsamic vinegar). Kleiner’s signature design style is on display here, but extra attention has been given to restoring and preserving vintage details. A red- and white-striped awning marks the spot from the outside, while the interior features pictures from Kleiner's world travels.

Beautiful room, but avoid busy times if you're sensitive to noise--because everyone is having a great time eating, drinking, and laughing out loud....

I called up for a reservation, after being put on hold twice for 10 minutes I thought maybe I was calling Comcast, not a restaurant. Didn't matter ...

Nice Ambience, will be nice for neighborhood. The entrance is bad and it will be worse in winter when it is cold. Food portions were a bit small ...
