Gratto Italian Tapas Bar

- Price range: $ (Under $9)
Tapas with an Italian twist is what you can expect of this affordable downtown Geneva eatery, aiming to open in mid-August. The first thing you'll notice is the expansive patio sunken below street level, boasting stamped concrete floors and umbrella-topped tables. Inside, expect a Venetian-style interior with an open kitchen, a wood trellis-covered ceiling and a rectangular black granite-topped bar. Small plates include braised lamb with roasted potatoes, or grilled portabella mushroom with polenta, tomato-basil pomodoro sauce and shaved Danish blue cheese. You'll also find traditional entrees here, including fruta di mare pasta tossed with shrimp, scallops, clams and calamari. In a city of $8 desserts, options here -- ranging from cannoli to tiramisu to a hot apple-pear tart -- run half as much.
