I get to Chicago a few times a year and regardless of which hotel my company puts me in, I make sure to get to the Hole in the Wall. This place has hands down the best italian food i've ever had. everything on the menu is exceptional. i always bring someone new and we always leave full and happy. Only downside is that it's a cash-only establishment.

Most pasta dishes there are simply delicious. Presentation and taste are exceptional. Would be even better if it expands/updates its variety of dessert. The place is quite small, but it is cozy and casual.
Report This ReviewThis place is great. I have taken over 20 different people to this restaurant and every single one of them thought it was great.
Fried Mozzarella is awesome appetizer and the Chicaken Vesuvio and other dishes are all top notch. Prices are great, I don't know what the other complained about. You can have dinner for 2 with appetize, dinner, split a dessert, and a Carafe of wine for under $60. What do you expect for a top notch meal?
Great service and atmosphere!
Report This ReviewToo bad food was not as nice as decor.Staff was pleasant, nothing against them.Problem was the food.We were disapointed with the iceberg lettuce salad. We ordered iced tea & got Snapple-they charge for refills.Other diners had bottles of Sprite. That's wrong. This isn't a casual pizza joint-there you'd get free refills.Next we had bruschetta which was ok.Entree was gnocchi w/ goat cheese, mushrooms & artichoke in tomato sauce.Just ok.We also had pasta with eggplant, tomatoes & cheese in an olive oil sauce. It was ok.We skipped dessert as we were tired of being disapointed & opted for the Trader Joe's choc cake we had @ home. This place is not worth the $.I'm not saying that it's super expensive-I am willing to pay for quality food.walls are decorated with photos of the owners with famous people.Don't know what they fed celebs to get them here,it certainly wasn't what we ate.Next time,Maggiano's.
Report This ReviewGreat restaurant, I gave all 4's except for the service.
Why? The restaurant does not take credit cards. The meal was on the pricey side with wine, and I don't carry that much cash. Our waitress was VERY nice and let me go drive to an ATM, but it was embarrassing. I wish they'd posted something. Yeah, it's a little tacky but lots of people don't carry tons of cash these days. Our meals were phenomenal, although the metromix entree avg. of $8-$15 is a little off...the cheapest entree (by a lot) was $14. Most were in the mid $20 range. Well worth it, though. This place was a newfound treat...just bring cash or be ready to leave your dining companion while you take a drive ;-)
First time eating there. Food was excellent!
Report This ReviewSimply outstanding in all categories. But more importantly, food tastes right on. These guys know what they're doing. No smoke and mirrors here. Quality, quality, quality - this place has it!
