My friend booked reservations for 6 people on a Sunday evening - 4/27.
I wont go into details but poor slow service, terrible ambiance, food not worth the price.
Hostess didnt want to seat 4 of us who were there bc 2 would be late and they like to seat together. Restaurant 2/3 empty. $19.95 for worse lasagana ever! Salty, no spices, not cheesey, no breadsticks, no salad with it. Brio's in lombard is better. Service so slow, I had to leave, walk two blocks to go pay a 2 hour meter 3 times!

Not worth the 1 hour drive from the burbs. Too many fake wannabees hanging around this block, too.

I dined at Carmines for a birthday celebration. First, let me say that the food was actually pretty good. I cannot however, say the same for the service, which will unfortunately keep me from ever visiting Carmine's again...

1. The waiter spilled water all over the table filling glasses, then olive oil while filling up plates.

2. More than one glass of wine was sent back due to the amount of cork floating in the glass.

3. The busboy dropped a knife on my husband's back while removing a plate from the table, leaving a greasy stain on his shirt. Luckily, it was not a steak knife!

4. The busboy dropped a plate ON MY HEAD while removing it from the table.

5. Drinks took about 20 min after being ordered to come to the table. Food took forever.

6. Water glasses were left empty for half the meal.

7. Dessert was brought for the birthday boy with no silverware. It was another 10 minutes before the waiter appeared.

Immediately seated at 6:00, ordered ALL PASTA dishes at 6:10. Figured going to a show that starts at 7:30, no problem. After several inquiries with no results, dinner was finally served at 7:10, leaving a whole 5 minutes to eat. No real apologies from anyone. The Manager stated the paper in the computer got screwed up and our order must have gotten lost. Upon looking behind the bar, all screens were computerized. ??????. No discount or anything else offered. We now have several full meals to reheat. Yummy. I will have to say though that the three bites were very good. Much better than the licorice and other snacks we hence had to eat at the theater.

This restaurant accepts far too many reservations for the physical table space they have available. We had reservations at 7:30 p.m. last Saturday evening and the place was completely and totally packed, standing room only which spilled from the bar to outside. Upon arrival the hostess tells you that it is going to be about 10-15 minute wait and directs you to their bar where there is barely any room to stand, much less sit. The problem is that she keeps telling you that - over and over again every time you check. I can't tell you how many people were upset as everyone was getting the same response and they obviously did not care anything about the circumstances they had created. I would have been more appreciative if they just had been honest and said hey look, we're way over-booked and come back in an hour and half - after all there's only so many cocktails you can have before you eat if you want to remember the experience.

We were finally seated at 9:00 p.m. The food was good, but completely overshadowed by the packed multitudes of wall-to-wall people, (which was more a circus-like atmosphere than anything else), because of their total inept ability to manage their over-populated reservation list. It was a joke and if this is the type of atmosphere you want to endure for a good meal then go for it, but I peronally wouldn't recommend this experience to anyone - I will NEVER go back!

Swung by Carmines Thursday, party for 6. Staff was great, food even better, live music wonderful...Food with drinks came out to about $40 per person. Had plenty to take home. Highly recommend...

What happened to the band that use to sing on tuesdays and wednesday nights???? Was there last night and my ears are still hurting! I asked the hostess to be moved far away from the lady that was "trying to sing"!!! I heard that they changed there entire line-up of entertainment!! Bad move carmines since your the only one on rush st with real live entertainment! I"d rather be at level screaming to have a converstaion then sit thru dinner hearing that ear piercing VOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to try to keep this short....we had a reservation for 8:00 on a Saturday and we had a party of 4. I realize on a Saturday there might be some lag time, but we did not get seated until 9:45!!!! We would have left, except everytime we talked to the hostess she said we would be seated within 15 minutes and since it was a saturday we did not want to take a chance on another restaurant. So we would wait 20 minutes and talk to her again......by time we finally got seated, we had been YELLED at by the hostess and she kept repeating "this is Chicago on a saturday, what do you expect?" Mind you we live in Chicago and we were just entertaining some friends. We were well aware of the night and location which was why we made a reservation in the first place.

The food was ok, but at least our server seemed to have his act together. I will NEVER go back to this place again. There is no reason to treat anyone, let alone a customer with such disrespect!

Made reservations for 6 at 7:30pm. I understand it was Saturday during the holidays, but we waited over 45 minutes for our table. We gave up and left. Too many people for that place. Staff was overwhelmed. Many were complaining about wait time. Maybe a weekday would have been better, but don't try this place on the weekend. You'll just be disappointed...

Touristy crowd, so not the best atmosphere. But the filet was amazing.
