We had a family event (30 people) for a birthday party there and we couldn't have been happier. The service and the ambiance were perfect, the food was delicious, and all in all we would happily recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal or a great event.

Fell in love with Campagnola when it opened several years ago. Went back for the first time in 2 years. Some of my favorite items weren't on the menu, so I tried something new and was not dissapointed. Service was great - my only issue is that there are too few wines served by the glass - only about 4 red and 4 white selections. Will try to make this a more regular stop.

I have read previous reviews of this establishment in disbelief that patrons have consistently liked ,nay loved their experiences here. My thoughts on Campagnola are appearantly in the distinct minority. I regard this restaurant as the worst I have ever endured. While it is generally dangerous to speak in absolutes this is one instance where I am unafraid to state that the food at this pretentious pseudo gourmanderie is the least appetizing effluvium it has been my misfortune to consume. The reviews of this restaurant stand at 14 favorable 1 horrible .If I were you I'd trust the curmudgeon in the group.

My boyfriend and I dined at Campagnola last weekend and all the reviews were true! The food is terrific! We started with the wood-fired octopus, which was fabulous. Both of out dinners were outstanding, although the steak was cooked a bit too much...but it still had a great flavor. We also had a pasta dish, which was outstanding. They also have great, crusty bread with high-end olive oil. For dessert we had sorbet...next time I am going to try the flourless chocolate cake, which sounded fantastic. This is by far my favorite restaurant in Evanston. It is very romantic! Fancy and semi-casual clothes work. You do need a reservation on the weekend....be sure to call at least a week in advance since they book up very quickly.

The food is excellent but a bit pretentious. The ambiance is zero. There are some framed blocks of monochromatic colors on one brick wall, nothing else, and the tables are crammed together. The resulting noise eliminated any possibility of conversation or intimacy. The experience is definitely not worth the price.

Dinner last Saturday at Campagnola was exceptional. The first courses of wood-fired radicchio with guanciale and octopus were both incredible. Entrees were very good with well-matched accompaniments. Note worthy wine and dessert selection. Service was terrific (amazingly the best that we have had anywhere in a couple of years).

Easily the best restaurant in Evanston. Food is always fresh, and the best quality fish and meat is used. Excellent preparation of trout, and the lamb is very nice also. Great pastas with an assortment of vegetables and fruits. Service is friendly and attentive without being in your face. Casual, but important dinners and dates can be held here. The atmosphere is very nice and relaxing. Although it is slightly more expensive, a great find, and the money is well worth it.

Discovered this place by accident and I'm totally blown away. The wood-fired octopus is the best I've ever had. The pastas are fantastic. A+ all the way for this place. Small glitches in the service but the food more than made up for it.

This gem has become my favorite resturant. The waitstaff is unbelievable and friendly, the food superb and the atmosphere cozy. Living 1 block away from this place is a dangerous place to be. If I could, I would be there every night.
