This cozy Italian restaurant is one of the most popular places in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood's Heart of Italy section, a favorite dining area in Chicago. Bruna's has served great Italian meals since 1933. At the turn of the century, emigrants from the region of Tuscany took over this area. Luciano Silvestri, the owner of Bruna's, is from this region of Italy. He proudly displays posters and pictures of Siena, his home town--one of the most beautiful places in Italy. The restaurant has the charm of authenticity. It is dimly lit and very romantic. The food is delicious ... not only the classic pastas but homestyle Italian dishes as well. Specialties include an outstanding eggplant Parmigiana. Bruna's also has a decent selection of wines and some good liqueurs. On the pasta menu, a quote from the American writer Christopher Morley reads: 'No man is lonely while eating spaghetti. It requires too much attention.' How true.

Luciano is the second owner, not the original owner of Bruna's.. The original owner 's family came from Luca Italy. Her photo still hangs today ...
