Angelina Ristorante: User Reviews
Angelina Ristorante

The restaurant has been around for ages, and this place remains a consistent neighborhood favorite! Bruch is $20 for unlimited champs plus choice of one menu item, everything from eggs to salads to sandwiches to pasta....a very good deal. Waitstaff is great, and very easy on the eyes. They don't rush you along, and are always around to see if you'd like another refull of champagne. For those other reviewers who said it is bad because they got shoved or pushed while sitting at their table or bar...please do everyone else a favor and don't go to small neighborhood places. If you want to sit in a gigantic room with three other people sitting with you, do not come to this restaurant. The tables are comfortable, the two-seperate dining areas are pleasant...but yes, it does get crowded on peak nights/days. A great choice for if you are in Lakeview/Wrigleyville!!

I arrived at the restaurant at 5pm to purchase a gift certificate for a friend. I asked a waiter if it would be possible to purchase one. He told me to "please wait a minute." After waiting he comes back and says" the only one who knows where we keep them is waiting on another table, give him a few minutes." After waiting patiently for 10 minutes the same waiter approaches me and tells me "can you please come back, we're super busy." After waiting a total of 15 minutes I walked out without a gift certificate. I could only image the type of service I would receive if I would have actually sat down and had a meal.....

I have selected this restaurant because I've heard the food was excellent and the atmosphere was very romantic. Well...it was far from it.
The tables were pushed so closely together that my date and I could hear what people were talking about sitting next to us and made us feel uncomfortable speaking at a normal level, fearing others would hear us.
The bread that they served us was stale. We ordered martinis and I have to say, $12 for 4oz martinis is quite outrageous.
For dinner we ordered chicken with italian sausage and vegetables, which was completely tasteless.

When it comes to dining, you can't go wrong with Angelina. The food is great, the atmosphere is warm, intimate and neighborhoody and the service is always friendly. If you want Italian food done right, without a hefty price tag, this is the spot!

My wife & I tried Angelina for the first time tonight (Tuesday). I was surprised at how uncrowded the place was considering the quality and the value. The menu is very interesting and varied, and our food was very well prepared. Relatively modest prices make this place a great value. We received service that was both attentive and helpful.

My husband and I brougt my parents there last Saturday. It was great overall. We are 100% Italian and have pretty tough standards, food was great. Service was good. Atmosphere was great, nice, not too loud, perfect place to bring a family. I had the Rigatoni which was delicious. Everybody was really happy. Good experience. Would reco.

Had a great time last night at Angelina's. Shared some nice wine and excellent food with five friends...left happy and full. I started with a yummy Martini at the bar and then had one of the special appetizers, a hearts of palm salad. It was very good. For my entree, I had a penne pasta with Gorgonzola...can't remember the name. For desert we shared some tasty tira misu (sp?). Will definitely go back again.

First, let me begin by stating that my boyfriend and I are a young professional couple who enjoy a great atmosphere of dining couple with great food. Based on this, we decided to check-out this local Italian restaurant based on reviews we read on here coupled with the fact that we live a couple of blocks away. With that being said we expected a very professional and well mannered staff. What we got in return was rude and ill-mannered staff that completely ruined our dining experience. When we first entered the establishment we were one of three dinner parties in the establishement. We were impressed with the decor and the ambiance that the lighting and the great decor created. This was quickly squashed by the incredibly poor and rude service we received. Once we were seated the busboy came by and literally threw the bread on the table with the olive oil blend for dipping. After sitting at our table for 20 minutes and not having been approached by our server, my boyfriend got up and asked our host if someone was going to be taking our drink order anytime soon or what the hold up was. The hosts' response was incredibly rude that he informed my boyfriend that it wasn't his problem that the waitstaff hadn't addressed us. Trying to ignore this and push past the fact that the other 2 dinner parties in the room were enjoying their drinks and appetizers that their waiter had diligently brought to them we were left alone for yet another 10 minutes while our waitress was being tracked down. When she finally came around to take our drink order and meal order she was so rude and coughed the entire time she was talking our order that we questioned if we would be getting her germs in our food. After taking both our drink and meal order my glass of wine was brought to me, but my boyfriends' drink order still hadn't arrived. After 10 minutes had passed I tried to get our waitress' attention (who by the way was just hanging out behind the bar casually drinking a beverage) finally noticed I was trying to get her attention and then quickly realized we were still waiting on my boyfriends' drink finally brought it over. We were so fed up and disgusted by our rude and inconsiderate service that we paid for our drinks and left before even having a chance to eat.
This is the WORST place to eat in Chicago!!!! Don't waste your time or money here.

I dined at Angelina's last Thursday and had the pleasure of not only enjoying great food and service, but their live jazz as well! What a treat! It really added alot to our experience there! I wish more restaurants would do this! At any rate, check it out on Thursday nights, it's cozy and delicious, perfect for a winter night out at this charming Lakeview spot.

The restaurant is too small for comfort. There was no way to sit comfortably at the bar without being jabbed by the person next to you. The bathroom is right by the bar area which is a chore to get to if anyone is sitting at the bar. The waiter was very curt and rude. The mixed greens salad was just that, mixed greens thrown on a plate with 4 little wedges of tomatoes, not to mention overpriced. The arrabbiatta saffron dish was the worst I have ever had. Horrible. I can't believe it's still on the menu. Who puts saffron in arrabbiata anyway?? Certainly not authentic Italian. The ONLY thing worth getting here is the Tiramisu. I wished I had skipped dinner and went right to the dessert. No plans on ever going back and I would not recommend this extremely small, by no means quaint restaurant to anyone. Don't waste your time or money.
